This is where I'm at, post suggestions. I picked the bright setup because 1. it's very distinct, 2. it was the most popular 3. because I like it.
So you're gonna need a strong argument to change the base colors. But do comment on whatever, I'm listening.

I reckon I can accept that, it isn't as horrendous looking in that screenshot, but what it REALLY needs is that sun-cover thingy.

Yes, I described it as a thingy.



Also, it looks better as beech wood than it did as marble.

PS: try to make the double barrel more noticeable, it looks like it only has 1 barrel in that pic, and that's CLOSEUP.

suncover looked like piss when I tried. Either it looked good from the side, or the front. Never both no matter what I did. Which is why I scrapped that idea.

How can I make the 2 barrels more visible? I would argue that the picture is taken from the side but, I'm interested in hearing suggestions for everything.

Might want to lighten up the barrel and stock butt to be less striking against the light wood. Just make them more grey than black.

Anyone else notice the tactical disadvantage of a black barrel with bright coloring around it? Would a hunter really use it?

I'm just saying, if it's a hunting rifle I can't think of a situation where a hunter would use a brightly colored weapon with a pitch black barrel.

brighter barrel, for 2 reasons: it still looks good. And it makes it easier to see it's actually double barreled.

Rounded the visor of the hat, and upped the res on the ear protection.

The lighting in that image is a little off. It's still dark ingame, but not that dark

I'm done, thank you all for your support and suggestions. Honestly! I did not get much feedback on the polycount forum at all (sometimes I wonder if they ignore my stuff on purpose), and most of my help came from this thread and the steamchat.

In the end I did a quick misc item, saxton stache v2

I updated my official first post to show my items. without a flashy promo-image, mostly because I cba to make one. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1142639&postcount=1

Now, to use my new modeling skills for something else?!

Looks great dude. To be honest I feel a little sorry for everyone who picked sniper as the crocodile pack has been getting all the attention, which is understandable as it's a very strong contender. Personally I feel that your items are actually more fitting with the TF2 style so I hope you win. Good luck, and I love the tache btw, it's a nice finishing touch.
