Dario tells us that what the demoman gets is way cooler than what the Soldier gets, implying its not the same weapon.

I'm definitely in favor of the demoman. I've been playing medic though, simply because I feel like 1 soldier can take out multiple demomen much more easily or at least more frequently than 1 demoman can take out multiple soldiers. As medic I'm helping get kills on soldiers without providing a body to add to their count.

I'm not super hardcore about this but honestly I think any 'special weapon' for the soldier would be boring as hell compared to a special weapon a demo could have.

They didn't say they'd made 2 new secret weapons, because it would be stupid to not release one of them. They obviously had this weapon idea which could apply to both demoman and soldier (hence it probably involves jumping, self-damage, stuff they have in common), and couldn't decide which class needed it more. So they though "Hey, let's let the public decide!"

I just wish we knew what we were fighting for.

Demoman. Soldier is too general and already functions fine as an all-purpose kind of class, Demoman is what should have the variety.

Solly. IMO it takes more skill as demo can be user to easily camp/ spam around corners whereas a solly needs to show his face to be able to make a kill. Already have 200 demo kills :3
