I don't see why this needs to be a VIP thing. Can't we all get involved? I would have maybe helped out with the crossword....if I had known about it.

It's mostly a security thing. Making sure it doesn't leak. Like the first TF2 Crossword...

Commmunity "contributors" generally have more respect than that. The reason why it is kept private is so that Valve can publicise it without looking like they are not in touch with the community. This is why the first crossword did not get support from Valve, as it made them look bad/slow. Or atleast something along these lines.

Just an idea, what about a slick video with flythroughs of some custom maps that could use some publicity?

Not sure how much of a community project you could make it...maybe have volunteers record demos of maps (not their own), and all submit to someone who could do the editing

Or, how about this, a video strategy guide for a popular custom map. Everyone could submit their tips and strats...

That sounds cool but would require a lot of out-of-alpha maps. As in - no devs.

I also had this idea of filming mappers in front of their maps, all of them singing "Don't Stop Believin'" each mapper singing a single line from the lyrics or so.
