it's pretty accurate tho, what the pyro does in the game.

Not really. Good pyros will never get hit dead on with a rocket. If they were going for accurate it would've been the pyro getting bounced around a little as the soldier madly shot rockets at the ground. Pyro would still probably die if the soldier's competent, but without a crit rocket he'd definitely be on fire before it was all over.

eh? pyros useless?
I started playing as a pyro about a week ago...and when playing dustbowl im usually in 1st on a server of 24
the problem with pyro is that without a medic, hes not very useful on roles where you need to advance. However...while defending you can pull off some amazing crap

I've actually been really enjoying playing pyro lately, after having ignored it for so long.
True a Soldier can rocket-juggle a Pyro to death. That's playing Soldier correctly.

Agreed, but if there aren't enemies on the retreat back, an even better pyro will take out his shotgun to shoot the burning soldier, similar to a spy sapping a sentry and using his revolver to kill it quicker (if the engy isn't around).
I don't see pyros use their shotgun enough. They should. Its very underestimated.
Best AMBUSH Tactic if you like chopping...

I find playing the Pyro so much fun... It just feels so good to jump into the enemy's face from a higher camp spot or something, and burn everyone around you while laughing maniacly. But it's true that the pyro is less useful in face-to-face fight, being a sneaky bastard is the best way to play.
The pyro is also useful to force the enemy to use their Übercharge before they could attack with it.

The trouble with this is now Valve have gone a bit mental with health kits within their maps and there's one around almost every corner. This tactic is practically useless now, especially if there's a half competent medic on the soldiers/what-ever-classes team, and what with the new med achievement pack that's almost garaunteed these days.
Pyro was my #2 fav class in TFC, behind Demoman. He's practically just a melee class. What with having to get so close to the enemy it's pretty hard to get more than a 1-1 kd ratio without playing defence, because you soak up so much panic fire. Sure it's fun setting a tightly packed assault on fire but the chances of actually killing anyone is slim, unless you're last into the fight.
Yeah, that's the idea. But vs any decent soldier it ends up with you being juggled and eating rockets in mid-air :thumbdown:

Hopefully the the new update with the Flamethrower's compressed air function that can turn rockets back will change the Soldier domination. :thumbup:
