M1 Tank

I need a green M1 tank I'm in the process of making a metal gear solid map I am really in need of this as I suck at modeling.

To show I'm putting a lot of effort into this map here are some screen shots:

I really need this tank my map is only 35% done I'm remaking basically a whole game into a TF2 map this would be such a great help.

The M1 Tank was created in 1980. TF2 is set in 60's.

Unrealistic gameplay elements and anachronistic environment art are two very different issues.

Realisticly i would have recommended going for a Sherman for a TF2 map. But this is a metal-gear port so it's really up to the author which way he swings. Either it's heavily based in TF2 lore or MG lore. People generally except non-canon pieces of art for what they are, so dissonance isn't really an issue; people accept both stories and suspension of disbelief is stretched further.

My original post was "Make it an M0 then", meaning an older tank, which is basically what grazr suggests. But I really don't think many people will to look at a tank in TF2 and think, "Ugh, what idiot put this tank from the 80s in my 1960s hat simulator?"

The problem is the M1 is its kinda the symbol of the modern day tank, which, depending on if you're trying to make your map look tf2-y or not (screeny doesn't really show) may stick out like a sore thumb (which I presume would be alot?).

But to be honest I don't think any of them are especially well known enough that they'll help reinforce the cold war setting, so you may be better off just going with the Sherman, its old, and everyone knows it, plus it looks pretty sweet compared to those others.

Thats just my opinion though.

For what it's worth, I definitely agree that the M1 is too iconically modern for TF2. I don't know jack about modern weaponry, and even I can recognize one of those.

A sherman would be pure win however. They're more curvy tanks and would probably lend themselves to the style much better.

Being that this is specifically for a Metal Gear port I think the M1 is perfectly acceptable. But if this were going to be a legitimate TF2 tank then I'd say that considering this quote from the TF2 contribute site...:

TF is a stylized world set some time in the 50's

...that a Sherman would probably be the best choice for the TF2 universe.

Well If its a Sherman tank that will make people happy that would be a good alternative then I guess but as it is I am putting a model of Metal Gear Rex in the map so as it is an M1 tank would still be just dandy for me. besides the scouts bat wasn't made till the 70's so the game already has things that didn't exist at the time.
