I've been looking for a tablet for a while, but unfortunately I haven't come across anything that fits my specifications yet:

    - No more than $150
    - Medium/large working surface
    - Win7 compatible
    - Good performance

Since the chat hasn't been able to offer me any serious solutions, I was hoping that the kind forumers might be able to. Thanks in advance.

These two don't work too well together. What is medium to you? 6 inches height? 10 inches?

Ditch win7. Or at least take a nuke to all of it's tablet pc functions. They seriously fuck over tablets cause win7 goes "OOOOOOHHH GOODIE I'M A TABLET PC" and turns on loads of shit you don't want and don't need, and then your tablet lags.

I've got a wacom graphire 3, A5 is a good size, I had an A6 one before and it's stupidly tiny. I think anything larger than A5 and you've gotta reaaaallly be doing some serious stuff to want it.

EDIT: oh mine is one of those refurbished ones or something, I don't know exactly how much it was since dad bought it for my birthday a few years back.

Cyked has linked me to this; it's not overly big, nobody running Win7 seems to be having problems with it, and it's cheap. I think I might give it a shot.

I also have a Bamboo medium. Its good. Works with Win7, responsive, had a decent sized area, has all the pressure/tilt stuff and is relativly cheap.

But don't press the pen too hard a lot, or the tip wears down fastish (it comes with like, 3 replacement tips though)

How do tablets work anyway? I'd never understand how you'd use it to draw, since there isn't a display on the pad itself to know where you're drawing.

Also, I know a lot of people who use the Wacom Bamboo and they find it pretty fantastic.

I have a Wacom Bamboo *checks* Medium A5 size too I believe. It's a great tablet.

Edit: Joodude, you just look at your screen. It's like not looking at your arm when you're moving your mouse, but then with a pen. You get used to it real fast, and it is extremely useful in some cases, like when you're drawing.

You hover over the pad to move the mouse about on screen. In the same way that a touchpad on a laptop doesn't represent the whole screen, neither does the area on a tablet.
