Having an issue with Hammer Editor

So when I first loaded up Hammer today, I was unable to select and props or brushes apart from the skybox. when I double clicked props it brings me to the vis-group screen instead of the normal screen. The tools don't appear to be selected when i click them either. This seems like a weird "bug" but would anyone have an idea of what it could be? I have this problem with any map i load up.

loading it up to take some screenshots i noticed that it will always select the skybox through how ever many brushes. its like the brushes in my map are not solid at all. ill post some screenshots in a second

This map is for MvM. yesterday everything was working perfectly fine, so i am really unsure why this is happening

Unrelated to your problem, but you've got a lot of useless space on the right side of your screen. You can drag those panels around to put them all in a single vertical line, and also you can get rid of the Manifest panel by going to View > Screen Elements and unchecking "Manifest Bar".

Anyway, for your problem: So you're saying you can't select any of the tools. I assume this means the toolbar on the left. And clicking on an entity (such as a prop) doesn't show the prop's information, but instead only shows the Visgroup tab in the properties window.

Sounds like a strange issue. The second half of your issue might be caused by having "Solids" as your current selection mode. On the top right, where it says "Select:" with 3 buttons underneath it, make sure "Groups" or "Objects" is selected. I don't know how to fix the first half of your issue. Perhaps try rebooting Hammer and/or your machine?

groups is selected up there. i deleted the skybox brushed around my level and im able to select the snow displacements and SOME of the brushes. im going to fiddle around with a few more things and see if anything works. ill keep u guys up to date too for future reference

alright so ive figured out that i am unable to select clipping or trigger brushes when there is an object behind it. i can select props and see their prop info, but only from certain angles or when clicking very specific parts (one of the two im not sure). For some reason there are still some brushed that i cant select either.

Under Tools > Options... > 3D Views > General, is "Reverse selection order" checked? If so, uncheck that.
