It's taking advantage of a group of people (my people) and using them like an example of something to make fun of, something to collectively push away. It's pretty uncalled for and I'm not sure I can really even explain the full depth of my disappointment with whoever thought it was a good idea

I assumed from the start that the dancing Heavy was a parody of the type of male pop stars that are supposed to appeal to a teenaged female audience, and had nothing to do with homosexuality whatsoever.

Also, when I come across 'uncomfortable gay vibes' jokes of the type you describe, I tend to assume that they're meant to poke fun at the involuntary little homophobia most straight people have. It's like a much funnier choice of target.
