And I quote:

The game is a direct sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles and will be playable in high definition on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360... The game returns to the roots of the Sonic series, and is strictly a 2D side-scrolling game rendered using 3D models; Sonic the Hedgehog will be the only playable character in the game.

And once again Eggman/Robotnik will be portrayed as a bumbling idiot rather than an insane, evil genius with an IQ of 300.

I like(d) Sonic back in the day, but yeah the running animation looks shit. I heard the DS Sonic games were really good though, and they look pretty good, but I think this might need some pretty damn good design to get my hopes up. So far Sonic hasn't been reinvented like Mario has been, which is a shame because in theory there are a lot of good directions Sonic could go in to be competitive. I hope it's actually Sonic 4 and not Sonic 3.5.

Sonic the Hedgehog was boring after the first level. The developers are too lazy to make properly long levels where you can speed through, hence the crappy half of Sonic Unleashed (they even said this themselves - though the laziness wasn't explicitly stated).

Oh great... More shovelware.

90's games were awesome... In the 90's...

Age certainly has been kinder on some (Mario) than others (Sonic), but honestly at this point it's about time someone takes the whole lot of malformed critters behind the barn and put 2 in the back of their desperate little heads.

We need more Mario, Zelda and Sonic games like we need Michael Atkinson or Jack Thompson.

I don't understand all this crap about Mario games.

Super Mario Galaxy was one of the worst games I've played in the series. Time has not been kind to the fat flumber.

However the New Super Mario bros is decent.

So why couldn't they just pull a Megaman 9 and use sprites again? Don't tell me it takes longer to make because it does not, plus the running animation in that trailer looks... subpar.

Different strokes for different blokes, I suppose.

I really hated it.

Galaxy was alright when it was just the regular platforming and not some underwater level or motion control gimmick.

This^

Unleahsed was great in the day.

And this^

Zelda on the other hand, I feel never transitioned to 3d very well. I know, I know, it looks great and probably plays great too, I just always end up wishing for the 2d back in my games...
