you no longer need to put a person model in your map to get a perspective of size.

dont have to sit near a computer to do a walkthrough on your new map.

build 'it' the hard way because it makes it fun

know that you dont have to 45degree those corners, but do it anyways because 'you would know'.

(yes, i was feeling that odd today)

What does it say about you when you're obsessively '45-degree''ing the corners before you've even released one map?

Those deffinately apply to me. Though i had to buck up a bit for TF2 because character's are slightly larger.

I'd only triangle the corners for games like DoD. You needn't bother in TF2. It actually kinda annoys me.

The proper term I believe is mitre.

My personal list is:
1. You look out the window and think about how beautiful the skybox is.
2. You see something outside and think it needs a better LOD model.
3. You look at a wall in your house and think the lightmap scale is too low.

I'm guilty of all of those.

you visit a warehouse that is a customer of your company, and think "this would make a great <insert game here> location, and start planning what stuff you would make props for, and use your phone to get reference pictures, instead of listening to the complaints the warehouse manager has about your companies support department.

After having spent hours and hours making my map in Hammer, I recently played Red Alert 3 again. I was trying to select all my units with the good ol' double click (double click a unit and all of its type on screen will be selected). I double clicked all my Guardian Tanks. Then, out of habit from using Hammer, I control-double-clicked a Mirage Tank.

All you CnC fans know what happens next. It took like 10 seconds to realise what i did :D

Ctrl click is force fire; my Mirage Tank was killed by all my Guardian Tanks

i've recently been having trouble using tf2 to play, mainly cos i keep hitting the Z key whenever i want to mouse-look.

course you know you made too many maps, when not only are you dreaming yourself playing as your fave class on one, but the maps themselves start choosing a class each and battle it out over 2fort for the right to be the map that you dream about... yes i know that's weird, and no i wasn't drunk that night...

If mapping has done anything that changed how I play TF2, is that I am doing much less spying and a lot more engineering.

I don't know why that is.

When you start thinking in hammer units

if you have been to the grand canyon and thought about the displacement work that went into it

When you see a radio tower, you immediately refer to it as a 3d skybox prop.

I do that all the time :|
