For boxy compiles use a cordon, not brushes. Much easier to compile small areas than by making brushes a lot. Whoever told you that was correct for HL2 was also wrong. Also your vmf should be all lowercase letters.

Look at Valve maps more. None of them are skyboxed like that, in any Source game.

well, I'm gonna make some changes... I've been bouncing some balancing changes to certain areas, I need to finish up the spawn rooms, and fix a bug with the start gates... I have no idea why they open like a regular door, even though they have the preset lock... and for the love of god... someone tell me the -fucking- solution to my floating cart bug... unless its the incomplete track... then fine

speaking of which, how would I adjust the skybox to work? and also next problem... I think its fixable, but its in a canyon and if a soldier was able to jump about, and see the surface

Grazr goes over some rooftop skybox usage in one of his guides. You should also never have a skybox brush beneath the ground, since players can't even see that and it will create lots of unnecessary leaves between your nodraw and skyboxz. You should study some Valve maps and see how they use skybox brushes in different settings.

Just put in a sky camera in the 3d skybox area and you're done. Remember to match the position of the sky camera with the map origo (0,0,0).

so it will just work as one whole box?

Watch this:

By the way, I'm not buying that you are mapping since four years. I mean after that time you wouldn't need to ask this forum for the most basic things, which you could look up yourself

(I had it open like a couple hours ago, I found it right after posting)
and... well, to the previous note, in total time less than a year... I started learning through a college summer camp, and just went back and forth, TF2 mapping was for it about maybe a year max, I'm still fairly new to the difference between Half life and Team fortress... and I got it fixed
