Here's something I hope to do every Thursday: the mapping charts!

There is one chart, organised by downloads from FPSBanana.com. I could also do charts for different types of map as well. I will ignore any maps I deem "improper" for selection (i.e. farming maps) and maps that do not use the accepted game modes (cp, pl, ctf, dom, tc and arena). Of couse, this exercise is kind of pointless, but it's also interesting as well.

I'm sure you meant to include tc in the "accepted game modes", right?

Either way, this is a really neat idea. :)

Hehe. Yup. I'd also consider including a map, if it was a map of high quality, such as Snipergen's dm_biosphere.

Interesting idea. What criteria are you using to choose whether a map goes on the list or not? Take hoodoo for example, which last time I looked had almost 700 downloads on fpsbanana.

Isn't hoodoo still in alpha? I think he's only showing beta and finished maps.

I'm looking at the total downloads each week, much like in the music charts (however much of a farce they are). If you're interested, hoodoo was 2nd on the month's top downloads, behind meridian.

interesting. I can personally vouch for ctf_2docks. I rarely see maps that make good use of water.

It was suggested once or twice that the robot from Meridian could be used as an active payload that is escorted to destroy a base with it's weapons systems. As well as "platform" payloads that could carry sentry guns. The idea is somewhat of an amusing one.

But.. putting half-life material into TF2 maps is somewhat of a touchy subject, if you can get away with it (like, a texture) then by all means, why not. But taking an npc, the strider, right out of half life 2, and putting it into TF2.

So, lots of movement in the top 10. This is mainly due to the sheer number of crappy or improper maps in the top 10. The biggest movers this week are pl_cliffhanger and ctf_Death_valley, who have effectively switched positions.

Just on FPSB.

If that included every game the first part of every map listed would say surf.

some of the responses i got in private messages and emails from bankjob make me want to kill all of their parents just for breeding. :cursing:

I received one that told me "DUDE YOU SHOUDL LIKE TOTAY PUT YOUR SENTRYSHACK BEHIND A CAGE OR LIKE A CAKE SO IT TAKES UP SPACE."


Honestly.. can we please quit sniffing paint thinner people.
