Hi there! I'm lucrative of Kings Crew. I've been apart of the comp community for over 10 years , 300 ESEA Matches and i'm responsible for organizing the ESEA New Map Showcase here > https://www.teamfortress.tv/50747/new-map-showcase as well has organizing high level competitive Map Test Pugs here > https://www.teamfortress.tv/50874/looking-for-maptest-participants

Our goal is to give Developers interested in 6v6 access to higher level play-tests for their maps, and introduce the competitive mindset when it comes to making 6v6 maps.

We want to bring your vision to Life! However, It is important to frame your map to the competitive scene. To do this, myself and a few others will take your Map submission and review it. During this review, we are looking over the map for viability of play-testing. If a map meets a reasonable level of play-ability, perhaps with some revision, we can add it to our pool of maps we test several times a week. At this stage, you can join us (as a spectator) during our pugs, see it in action, listen to the team's communication, and join us for post match discussion about the map where you can receive feedback. The feedback process is focused on positivity, as well as honest criticisms about any aspects of your map that may need adjusting. A direct link between you and the players!

Here is a list of maps and Developers who have gone through this process;

cp_kalinka by Jusa

cp_mist by hutty

cp_bluff by Paper

cp_craneway by Bereth

cp_workflow by Brandan (Brandini Panini)

cp_logjam by Hyce *[included in ETF2L pre-season cup and now fully included in ozfortress]*

cp_propaganda by QuantumBarber *[Included in ESEA S30 Through these tests and the New Map Showcase]*

cp_alamosa by Hyce

koth_ordiance by Paper *[Included in the ETF2L pre-season cup]*

cp_klondike by Nash (Ananash)

We want to see more maps in our scene and we aren't trying to dismiss map makers.

PLEASE add me here on Steam if you are interested! https://steamcommunity.com/id/emceeLbp/

also, check out my stream for all your playtest and map review needs! Im always taking requests to check out maps and I stream all map tests! https://www.twitch.tv/lucrativetf

I will also be frequenting these threads, so if you have any question don't hesitate to ask here or start up some discussion!

Thanks for your time and all of your hard work!

I just want to vouch for this guy really quick. lucrative has been tremendously helpful in getting propaganda to the place it needed to be. If it weren't for him, propaganda definitely wouldn't be played in ESEA this season. Him and the people he plays with are super friendly and very good at explaining what the problems with your map and and why its a problem, so you have all the information you need to make a proper change. I'd highly recommend anyone who's been looking for a way to get into mapping for the comp scene to test with these guys. They know their stuff.

Never thought a map of mine (let alone a koth map that I had abandoned for nearly half a year last year) would be enjoyed (or even playtested) in a competitive environment, let alone included in the ETF2L pre-season cup, but Lucrative and his crew made it possible. Thank ya'll for the help so far (and any help you provide me and other map makers in the future). <3

Lucrative and the gang are just about singlehandedly trying to keep new maps alive in the NA competitive community. He's great to work with and the feedback is excellent. If anyone is interested in mapping for competitive, this is the avenue to do it.

I'm sure it sounds like a broken record in here but the opportunities lucrative provides map makers is the most amazing thing for creating and testing new maps. If anyone has ever had a second thought about creating a map focused for competitive play, give lucrative a ring, you won't regret it.

Great to have active promotion on this site! I didn't know this was possible. I might try competitive mapping soon.
Edit: Which gamemodes does ESEA consider apart from 5cp and koth?

Would payload be viable since i have a map for it that could work

Hey guys! First of all, thank you so much for your interest :)

Unfortunately, The 3 major 6v6 leagues (ESEA, ETF2L and ozfortress) Don't run A/D cp maps, payload maps or ctf maps. 5 symmetrical cp and KoTH are the 2 game-modes most viable for 6v6 at the current moment. These leagues are trying to stay away from running multiple game modes throughout the season for competitive integrity and practice reasons. Thus, our group is mainly looking to test 5cp and KoTH as those are the modes most likely to be adopted into league play!

We used to run Gravelpit, but I believe it was removed because the games were too inconsistent. 1 failed defense could result in the match being finished very quickly due to the small numbers used in 6v6 and the community wasn't a huge fan of it after the meta started to change (Demo nerf, stickies becoming killable, Kritz and Arrows being implemented etc). All these changes have made it problematic to play A/D or Payload in 6v6 for the most part. I'm not really in a position to change the Leagues outlook on this.

I think UGC 6v6 runs these types of maps and they are obviously still played in Highlander as well, I personally don't play UGC or test maps for that league ether, I have no pull there.

That being said, if you are still interested, we would love to test your guys 5cp or KoTH maps if you have them in works!

Thanks so much for your hard work guys :)

I do have this one map named koth_gibson. It was originally made by ym but i took it over. I don’t have plans on updating it but i guess you could play it https://tf2maps.net/downloads/gibson.7073/

If there are some major bugs than i’ll update it but only if it is really needed

I actually just did a quick review of it, I know you said you're not looking to review it or change but I did it anyways maybe it gives you some new motivation :)

So i just looked at it and i think i can change some things about it. Lowering the point can be hard since i would need to adjust the entire mid area but the bridges from the lobby area to the highground can work. Also that usless dead space near the trains is definitely gonna go away, i’ll just put some boxes there and clip it off. I’ll also think of a way too remove the big sightlines on the sniping balconies at mid

If you want to make some updates I will 100% get it tested :)

koth_synthetic has had some comp testing for both 6's and highlander. It's got a couple of problems but seems to be generally enjoyed by both casual and competitive players. I've been trying to gather as much feedback on it as I can to put together a new version of the map and would love to know what you and you're peeps think of it: https://tf2maps.net/downloads/synthetic.5573/

How does competitive scene take deathpits? Not talking about less pronounced ones like saws in sawmill but more well communicated one like upward cliff.

they are frowned upon entirely, anything thats got a "random" factor or a gimmick that causes death is generally really bad for competitive play.

are you saying that if its tested you will come back to work on it? or you're not going to work on it anymore regardless of testing
If people feel that it has potential and there's feedback on what to change, I'd be happy to work on it again.
