Map Editor was released yesterday. After a wrestle with installing the patches (Blizzard really screwed up on this one, corrupt files broken servers..) I managed to get into it, nothing too new. A lot more script versatility, should make for some interesting mods.
Nothing too new? Are you out of your mind? For someone who has been mapping for Warcraft 3 for several years the new editor is completely epic. I'd say about 80% of the things that were hardcoded in WC3 can now easily be changed.

I'm sorry, I don't have much experience with the World Editor and was simply making that observation based on about an hours worth of clicking around and pushing sliders.

I actually didn't order through GameStop, because my local equivalent (EB Games, owned by Gamestop) has a pre-order available for the Collectors edition for only $120 as apposed to the $130 it was going to cost me for the default version via American Gamestop. So I'm going to get that. And because of that, I am still Beta Key-less. So any spare invite would be so greatly appreciated, the latest patch ruined the cracked version I was playing through and Blizzard asked the maker of it to stop supporting it which = me not being able to play at all. Once again, I would make an Altar for you if you decided to do this. :wow:

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be offensive or anything, I'm just quite stoked about the new editor myself~

There, Husky and HD are talking about the editor a bit in the first 3 minutes: YouTube- Patch 9 StarCraft 2 Discussion - Part 2 of 3

Gee... in fact, the editor has so many possibilities I am kind of overwhelmed right now. Data Editor? Wow.

Your map looks great though, Radaka!

Isn't that map a little big? Aren't the yellow lines the map bounds?

Post testing: the boundary pits are very big and very monotonous. It made it easy to hide almost a whole base out there. From a detailing perspective, it's just dead and needs a little something-something to make it better. Perhaps you can even add an island expo out there. Just put something in there to break it up.

I like the adjacent cliff because it makes it a good place to use some interesting tactics and actually makes a colossus boundary, but I think it makes it hard to reach and reinforce your natural if it comes under attack. The rich mineral field was hard to defend for zerg, but it's two cliffs above ground, right? That could turn into an absolute killing ground for a couple of siege tanks. I think it needs a little more testing, but it's pretty good as is (especially since it cleaves the map in half.)

Good rush distance, by the way, but I think you can afford to put ramps on either side of the watchtowers instead of the farthest side.

I played against a friend named Clownfish on there... that was epic as hell.

Also, the yellow lines show the extent of the camera's center point, and blue lines show the maximum distance units can move around in.

happyface. But I'm capped and because of what I like to call Blizzards' "Infinty Wardism" even my games against bots are wrought with connection lag.

EDIT: I'm a doofus. It was drrockzo.armory. But I've added you guys now anyways.
