CP - Painhandle (AKA Panhandle Event) 1.0
A tiny, Cloak-style 1CP map made for 4v4... with a sinister twist!
(Honestly, I was planning to make the map file show as cp_panhandle_event but change to Painhandle once the map is loaded. Turns out, those Halloween renames are hard-coded by Valve, much to my disappointment. ^^; )
There is an old tale, told as a campfire story in the Oklahoma Panhandle... A serial killer by the name of "Sawblade Sam"...
They say he was an insane man, doing exactly what the voices in his head whispered to him... He butchered over fifty people, tying them up and sending them into a giant lumber saw, tearing them in half...
The tale goes that one Halloween night, as one of his would-be victims was about to be loaded onto the conveyor, they managed to overpower him. In a poetic twist of justice, he was killed with the very same saw he used to murder dozens...
However, they say every subsequent Halloween, his vengeful spirit escapes the chains of hell, and he roams the countryside looking for a body to possess and resume his killing spree...
Spoopy campfire story aside, I felt the need to make an event version of the 1CP map I made. I dunno; I'm still pretty proud of what I made, and I just wanted to show it some Halloween love! It's not as Halloween-y as other event maps, but I still think I did a pretty good job making my map evil. ^^
Something sinister is afoot in the Happy Farmers Maintenance warehouse...
The lone control point is unchanged from the original map, though the lighting is a bit different from what you remember.
The side room, however, has been made into a death trap. The conveyor has been reversed, sending you into the whirring bloody sawblade. It also appears as though an evil cult is beginning to worship the fallen killer... Perhaps they were seeking a sacrifice?
The saw isn't the only hazard added; the small healthkits and ammopacks near spawn are guarded by a Pumpkin Bomb. Best not linger too close!
The tunnel beneath the point has the only spellbook in the map. It spawns every sixty seconds (i.e. at the 3:00, 2:00, 1:00, and Overtime marks). On a small map like this one, even a single spell can turn the tide of a battle!
Watch your footing, however... Beneath the spellbook is a pit to hell, lined with sawblades... The same sawblades that served as Sam's eternal punishment.
Anyways, it's not as big of a conversion as, sayyy, Mountain Lab into Mann Manor, but I still hope you all enjoy! ^^
