Well, that's an awesome gesture. No doubt it would be really useful for my own education, should I go down that road...

Too bad I don't have any Unreal games, so I guess I'm screwed at the moment.

EDIT: Or not, as I've heard you can make standalone games with it. Which makes a lot of sense when I think about it.

From what I understand, most of that was already available, but what was originally available to modders did not permit them to make full out games, and completely disabled the ability to make anything that wasn't multiplayer.

It installs and runs fine on W7 RC 64 bit, I can't imagine it being an issue on the released W7 as well, so you might want to look into what else may be causing issues with it (administrative rights, etc).

Do I still have to download this if I own UT3?

I really should get around to making something substantial in that editor.

Uh, I would think so, since this is supposedly the corporate editor, rather than the one that came with the game.

cool, I hope it comes with a single "make a kickass game" button. Cause I won't know what i'm doing otherwise.

This looks a lot more complicated than the mapping software (unless it is the mapping software). I've mapped for UT3 a few times before, its very user friendly and in-depth. But to learn this there would be so much work! Even though if someone here started a project I would want in.

Basically, while the UT3 Editor was just that, an editor for UT3, the UDK is basically the Unreal Engine 3 SDK. So, you can make your own game with this, rather than just relying on the user having UT3. It's geared more towards total conversions, and a couple of thouse have already made a standalone version. My understanding is that UDK does not require UT3.

It's also a reasonably agreeable price ($99 + 25% of revenue above $5,000) if you want to sell your game. It's a really smart business move by Epic.

UnrealED does everything that you will ever need. The best thing is that you can change an awful lot simply through scripting whilst doing equivalent changes in Source would required C++ programming.

That's pretty nice, though I suppose we'll have to wait for the UT3 modding community to make some tutorials for us outsiders.
