Simplifying Hammer

Apart from its crashing fetish, Hammer is a fantastic tool for making Source maps. Are changes needed?

IMO, Hammer is perfect for the Source that we have now. If P2 has really amazing improvements on Source (which would have to be a completely new engine, I'd think) then a new version of Hammer, maybe even an entirely new world editor, would be needed. But to work with what we have atm, the current Hammer is fine.

I wouldnt mind a new model browser... ABSs prop library is great, but if something like that would be included in source sdk, prop library + current model browser together, would be nice

Source is a brush based engine.

Unreal is a mesh based one.

I see no improvements that need to be made to Hammer.

Actually, real time lighting as well as fast playtesting (Cryengine2) are things that Source SDK could benefit from.
