newbie question on 1st map...

    Hi all

    I am new to level design and tried creating a simple small room map with a player in it. I think I did everything right... i created a 512x512x512 map and then selected hollow. The texture i used for each face was brick/brickwall003.

    When the game runs i seem to just fall through the floor.

    I've looked at the map for a long time (considering it's only 1 room!) and cannot see anything i have done wrong!

    Can anyone help me?

    If you set your spawn entity touching the floor, you'll just fall straight through it. Just move the entity upwards 2 blocks and it'll work.

    I've wondered why it does that...

    I've tried that and it makes no difference...!?

    I've attached my VMF file... it's probably something really obvious!!!? :(

    Maybe because you have the room set to func_detail. select the box and hit ctrl W to make it just a box. Upon loading the map and looking at the console, i found that you do not have an info_player_teamspawn. In TF2 you use info_player_teamspawn, not info_player_start. So without the spawn the game spawns the player below the level.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the help and links guys. I looked through loads of threads but couldn't find the right answer! In the end it ended up being the player respawn flag on the player...
