I've recently started using the Chris TF2 configs when playing lately, and it's helped fps a ton.

Unfortunately, the settings I use to play aren't good enough for screenshots when showing off new maps, so that means I'd have to change my launch options and autoexec.cfg each time I want to check a WIP map.

I don't want to launch TF2 when compiling from Hammer since that doesn't give you the change to close Hammer. And since Hammer eats up a lot of memory, it makes running TF2 at the same time extremely sluggish. Doesn't give me a good idea of what fps to expect from the map at high quality.

It's not a HUGE problem, but I've noticed that since I started using the config for better fps, I tend not to take screenshots often, if at all. :p

Is there a way I can set up two different launch options for TF2? Like a shortcut or a bat file or something. Basically I want a "default" one to play on, and a "high quality" one to take screenshots on.

You could just have two separate configs, one autoexec for playing and if you want to create screenshots, have another one called "screenshots.cfg". Using the console you write "exec screenshots.cfg" (maybe just screenshots) and that should do it.

Just tell steam to make a desktop shortcut to the game, then move it where ever you want and edit the launch options. Just tag the launch options on after the -applaunch ### one it will create. I personally have four different TF2 shortcuts.

Sorry to necro this thread but I can't get this to work. There's no -applaunch in my tf2 desktop shortcut, only steam://rungameid/440, and adding launch parameters after it doesn't seem to do anything. :S

In my highquality shortcut, I have this as the target:

    "C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 440 -dxlevel 98 -full -w 1600 -h 900 -console -nojoy -noipx -novid -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd +exec highquality.cfg

There are two different shortcut methods. Make a new shortcut (not through Steam) and it'll work.
