Would anyone be willing to host the custom map KotH - Luxor for a night or two for me and a few friends? Before asking, I did port forward and people are able to join but my internets is terribad. Everyone lagged that it was just no fun. I could dish out money for a server, but I'm just wanting to play this for like two days, up to a week at most.
I'm a big fan of Egypt style maps and would like to try all the custom made Egypt-esque maps out with friends. In exchange, I could model you a model for TF2 as long as you provide decent concept art for me to follow.
This is a bit old, but this is a TF2 model I made awhile back but never finished.

If you don't mind only having 14 slots and having a password on it, I can lend you my scrim server.

That'd be awesome waxpax. Must it have a password?
I'd like random people to join in without me having to offer them a password. :p

It has to have the password because I paid for a private server since a public one is slightly more expensive.

ah, I see. That's fine then :)
Whenever you can offer the IP/password to the server, please send me a PM and you and a few of my friends can all congregate together on it and have some tea. Like gentlemen.

In all seriousness, thank you.

I just randomly came across this thread while searching my map on google. Did you ever get the chance to fully test this out? I believe we tried a playtest one night with my map but it kept crashing the server. If possible, could you let me know how the playtest went and if you noticed anything weird?

The server that waxpax allowed me to use for that night had a password so I had to manually invite/spam my friends. I got about 4 people to join tops, so I didn't really get a chance to play it strategically. A few things me and friends did notice about your maps is places you could exploit up to. Ie, camp on top of a ledge outside a persons spawn, etc. Visually, the map looks great and that's why I chose it. I might one day get a server and host this map only. No server rotation, except for maybe one-to-two other custom Egypt styled maps.

If you ever do get a server running like I did and tested it for any gameplay bugs or what not, you should eventually submit this to Valve.

Mappers can't submit their maps to Valve, not yet at least.
Valve picks random maps, tests them and if they really like it, it goes official.

Oh, I see now. I thought it was similar to how modeling went. We can only hope Valves chooses a few maps soon. :)

Awesome good to get that feedback as I did not know you could get up there. Must perfect the clipping in the areas that are not seen as much as there is always someone who will be able to find that. Lol

Good to hear that the server did not crash either. That was the only thing that stopped me from moving forward on this build. I couldn't for the life of me find out what it was. I believe it was just a server malfunction then. Of course, with only 4 people tops it might be an issue that is caused by having a higher amount on there.

I will let you know if we put up a server with this map on it which shouldn't be hard seeing as we do have a box now hosting TF2 servers. Right now it is in the process of a move and everything is down. Will let you know once it is back up and where to find it at though.

Unfortunately there is no way to do that is correct. I think valve needs at least one or two more egypt maps to the lineup as I believe it doesn't get enough attention.
