Here at Valve, we've always been consistently blown away by the creativity and generosity of the TF2 community -- through art contests, map making, item creating, or any one of the hundreds of other ways that you manage to impress us every day.

Today, we'd like to offer a chance to help out at a time when that help matters most. To support the relief efforts currently underway in Japan, we're introducing three limited edition hats and two special noisemakers to the Mann Co. store. The "Humanitarian's Hachimaki" ($7.99), the "Benefactor's Kanmuri" ($19.99) and the most prestigious "Magnanimous Monarch" ($99.99) will be available from now through April 6. All proceeds (net of applicable taxes) will go directly towards the Japanese disaster relief fund that the American Red Cross has set up. The hats can be equipped by all classes; however, they cannot be traded or used for crafting.

I'll be buying the $20 hat when I get my paycheck.

Honestly, I'm hoping they do more stuff like this. Maybe a red ribbon medal for AIDS awareness?

This is why Valve is awesome.

Though I already donated to the cause elsewhere...

Glad to see it was through the AMC. I haven't heard anything negative about their funds and managing of cash received. I went ahead and got all three hats and noisemakers and equipped them... though to be honest I feel kind of guilty wearing them, like I'm trying to show off or something.

Anyone else feeling that way?

Oh and is there any way we could get the stamp section of the feedback page to show the stats for these donations? I think that would be a fascinating study.

Well the backpack API would be able to see how many people have the hats.

/me prods Geit

That'd be even more inaccurate than the stamp tracker, there are thousands of private backpacks. Valve haven't published leaderboards for the Charity stuff, so my guess is that they'll publish their own stats when the period is over.

I got the $30 pack. The hats are OK, I wouldn't have just bought any of them and if I had crafted or dropped them I probably wouldn't have kept them.

But it's a good cause so why not.

Unfortunately you can't even gift wrap 'em. I was going to give my Himachi to a friend. Bought a gift wrap which is now useless.

I don't feel guilty wearing them either, just another hat I'll swap out every once in awhile. Heck, It might even get more people to donate by wearing, who knows.

I'm definitely getting a hat. Not sure which one but I'm getting one when I get the chance.

Also, money paid towards the purchase of keys should also go to charity.
