How to fix missing gameinfo.txt after moving TF2 to a new directory?

I moved most of my Steam games to another drive to clear up my C: drive, and now Hammer's complaining that it can't find TF2's gameinfo.txt because GameConfig.txt is pointing to the old location. So I replaced all occurrences of the old directory in that file with the new one. But Hammer's still complaining about gameinfo.txt being missing. What else do I need to change to fix that?

Go into this menu in Hammer:

Then edit this path to point to your Team Fortress 2/tf/ folder, wherever it may be.

Hammer should now be able to find your gameinfo.txt.

I cannot open Hammer because it is complaining that it cannot find gameinfo.txt instead of opening. I could've easily fixed this myself if that were not the case.

Then in theory editing GameConfig.txt should be the only way to do it, as you said earlier.
I don't mean to sound patronising, but are you absolutely sure you replaced the directory in GameConfig with the right new directory? "GameDir" needs to point to "steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/", NOT "steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/".
