Custom textures on existing props

    Say I'd like to put in a sign prop (such as props_gameplay\sign_gameplay01.mdl) with some sort of custom text (such as "Tunnel" or "Shortcut"). How would I go about doing this? Is it possible to add custom skins to a prop, or would I have to make a unique copy of the prop?

    You could either recompile the model with another skin, or use a 1 unit thick nodraw block over the sign with your custom texture on the side that faces the player.

    However, gameplay signs like that shouldn't have text on them. Small things across the map that are only for details are fine, but when it is important, you risk non-English players becoming confused.
