This link includes most of the official valve map’s VMF files. Download it and put it your ‘mapsrc’ folder to view it. However before doing that I would recommend learning the basics of hammer first.

Both channels provide easy to understand videos on subjects relating to hammer and other content which you may enjoy.
The tf2maps.net forum (Mapping question/discussion.) Is another great tool. But before you post a question try to google it and solve the answer yourself as many of the problems found there are common. But still feel free to use it.
Alright then. I’ve been on and off mapping for almost two years now and I still use those resources now. I mostly assumed you were a beginner from your status: ‘How do I upload custom images in hammer?’
I would still highly recommend those videos even if you have previous knowledge on the source engine as there is always more to learn and tinker with.
why download the vmfs? valve has compiled many maps for mappers already! go here:
