After all of the contest stuff, getting back to a normal routine feels pretty good. We haven't forgotten about our recent one though. Just a small delay w/ one of the judges. We will have results by week's end at the latest. And for those of you who don't know, Mr. Dario Casali is one of the celebrity judges, so it's gonna be worth the wait
You will note that our server rotation has been restored, and Gamedays will resume this week, albeit w/ a few tweaks.
The biggest change is in the way we're handling submissions. Starting next week, we're going to have threads for 2 or 3 weeks worth of Gamedays. Authors will be limited to some number of entries in that time frame. This should remove the pressure that comes from having each thread open mere days before. It will also lets us shorten the total Gameday time, so authors won't have to worry about testers getting burnout before reaching the end of the session
Should you be looking for a project, we have a new mini-contest up and running; CP mini-contest Just a casual event, but I love these things cuz they are a great opportunity for new mappers to make a serious effort, and they allow the more experienced members to show off
I want to give a quick shout-out to all of the awesome custom servers that keep popping up; http://forums.tf2maps.net/forumdisplay.php?f=27 The admins are making a serious effort to spread the word about custom TF2 goodness, so make sure to leave your feedback.
Lastly, it's not often that I get to brag (see my sig), so I was pleasantly surprised when I got asked to do an interview for Community Fortress. For those of you who don't know, they're a premiere group in the competitive scene. It includes a small spoiler about our next big contest as well
Not quite an indepth as the piece I did for The Modcast Episode 2, but still a good look at the state of custom TF2. Check it out here; http://communityfortress.com/tf2/news/interview-with-immortal-d-of-tf2mapsnet.php
Has anyone in the Chicago area gotten any Winter yet? I have my snowboard all shined and ready, but have thus far been sorely disappointed.
