Ok - I'm about to break the cardinal rule of mapping here butt... use the carve tool.
Ok OK before you all jump down my throat - lol
Here's what I'm thinking
- make a bunch of verticle cylinders different widths they all have to be centered with each other (by using the x
- have them intersect a bunch of different plates (these will be your seats) all stacked on on top of the other, align these to the cylinders using the x again to make sure that they are all centered.
- hide all except the lowest plate and 1 cylinder
- carve it - then hide it
- repeat this process for all your plates working outwards and upwards
- once done - clip it in half so you only have to do one side.
- look at your objects (the plates) see what the best way is to clean them up (since carving butchers everything) see what can be combined/modified and do it.
- make each section or a group or the entire thing a func_detail (unless you have 40 days to wait while vis compiles it for you)
- make sure all are selected, shift drag to make a copy then filp it bring the two halves togther to make a whole object and you're done.
