I got to install Spore today and I've played it a bit. It's pretty fun, but not as good as I'd hoped.

My game really really wants me to play it in Norwegian, and I've noticed that they translated all the names of the creatures made by Maxis into something that's a bit easier to pronounce for those lazy kids today - and within my first hour, I ran into a species created by Maxis, named "Rape". Now, it does have a meaning (it literally means "to burp"), but still...lol. :lol:

I was watching a show on gametrailers, and the guy who is reviewing it said it took him 8 hours to go through all the phases aka one sitting. The other guy was flipping out "what?!?! 8 hours? the game took 8 years of development!"

I was excited to get the game, but now I dont think I will. I gotta save my money for Left 4 Dead :thumbup: and other stuff

Thats what i was saying and everyone was getting upset at me =( It feels like 5 different game trials rolled into one. Its simple gameplay, but enough to make you want more.. sadly there is no more and you realize that this IS the game =(

I was wondering about this the other day...If you steal more than $400 dollars worth of whatever, thats grand theft, and thus a felony (unless its a certain item, which is always considered grand theft, such as a car). But is the same true of stuff online? Ie, if you pirated XSI (which, according to their stupid pop up ad is around 5k), would that be a felony?

question is, do people consider it okay to pirate games as long as they buy the game when it comes out? I know some people do it, to test out the game, and then to give the developer the money/respect for the game

strangely enough...if you get your content from a torrent it is not technically illegal in canada... there is some ambiguous ruling on it being difficult to define the border of "sharing" so there is technically no law to stop it...at least when music is in question...there may or may not be rules on other pirating

I pirated Spore because I was going to buy it anyway, so I think that's not so bad.

Picked up my legal copy today, I didn't pirate it at all so it will be totally fresh for me when I get around to installing it a little later. I have in the past downloaded various tracks off albums before going and buying the full thing in the store. Whilst its technically illigal I've payed for the stuff in the end. However I fear we're straying of the topic of spore itself and more on to the obtaining of it.

It comes out here tomorrow and I am very tempted to go pick it up. I saw some gameplay footage in a Jeff Green interview. He spoke well about the game and the footage looks really good. I didn't expect this to be a game I bought on release, but I'm liking what I see.
