Things We Don't Like About TF2

Simply hats do not fit the artstyle of the game. If hats had been available from the start and shown in promo shots journos previewing the game would have gone "What's with the hats? They look so out of place."

Granted certain hats are out of place but I feel that these are outnumbered by hats that do fit the art style, do you have any specific examples you were thinking of?

Also, totally forgot, the Black Box, the equivalent of the noob-tube in the COD franchise.

no you're just dumb if you actually care about tf2 items past having 1 of each weapon for y'know, gameplay

Nah, that's what applies to every weapon BUT the Black Box, I actually collect them for no other reason than because at the time I started collecting them, a couple weeks after the Poly update, I thought you could get Community Weapons by collecting enough of that 1 weapon.

I have since been cured of that stupidity however I kept them around because whenever someone viewed my Backpack and asks why I have so many, it was hilarious, and likely won't get old if I ever try this again.

I disagree, most of the hats look out of place. Some of them do make me smile though. If more of them fitted the art style rather than being gimmicky I wouldn't be opposed to them

I should also say I don't mind the weapons that are genuinely just alternatives to the original rather then ones that solve a previous weakness of the class and unbalance the game.

I think if you say the words "noob tube" (ironically or unironically) you can't say anything about balance.

So we should hate something without doing any research on it or bothering to make a proper case for what we think? What are we, Fox News?

Fox news is awesome and very reliable news outlet!

Just kidding. I still have some dignity left if I retract that immeditely, right?

Things I hate about TF2: Pyro's design is inherently flawed, I think. You're always going to die more due to the fact that YOU HAVE TO GET UP NICE N CLOSE WHERE ITS LETHAL. Also, the sniper rifle's skill ceiling is WAAY too high, for people who have good enough muscle memory.

Other than that? Nothing. Seriously. I can't think of anything else that honestly still bugs me. People raging about the sydney sleeper? I described my own as "Abyss' Fabulous Point And Click Adventure!" just to make them rage harder, and it is FRICKIN HILARIOUS when people overreact.
People not playing the game properly and getting us steamrolled? Bugger em, I know a few servers where people sometimes think. And hey, those sorts of servers are useful for mindless DMing anyways, like if you decide you wanna stickyjumper + paintrain on 2fort just to screw with the snipers.

The hats? Meh, you don't really notice them at all unless you keep thinking about how you HATE HATE HATE THAT @$#^$#&^$ PARASITE. It's sort of self-perpetuating, sometimes.

The heavies? You don't complain about how you can't punch a (literal, metal) tank out of shape with your bare hands, same thing here. I get the feeling that some people just don't know how to move around a corner.

The random unlocks? Meh, they add variety and novelty when you use them, even if only for a while. It turns out everything is oddly balanced, in the end. Might have something to do with the fact that valve DOES actually listen to the whining, and try to deal with whatever is legitimate.

1. Dead Ringer
2. People who never bother to defend the intel in CTF.
2.1. More than three Engineers on one team in CTF, all defending the intel.
3. arena_badlands
4. All the variations of Sawmill except for the koth version.
5. Sydney Sleeper.
6. Shortstop.
6.1. Actually, let's go so far as to say the whole Polycount Scout set is crap (except for the fish - THAT is awesome)
6.2. The fact that the whole PolyScout set adds 25 health to the Scout, thus removing the very reason why the Scout is the Scout - he is weak but agile, so he is supposed to have low health.
6.3. How Mad Milk gave Scouts a way of removing After-burn.
7. Dead Ringer.
8. The following hats:
8.1. Hatless hats.
8.2. Hats that are really pointless and do not fit the class at all (see: Milkman, Coupe d' Disastre or however the hell you spell that)
8.3. Hats that look like other hats (Demo's Stovepipe and Gibus, Spy's Billycock and Modest Pile of Hat)
8.4. Hats that seem to be worth a lot for no apparent reason (see: Earbuds)
8.5. Unusual hats.
9. Dead R- you get the idea.
10. Scouts that always follow you when you're retreating.
11. The Dead Ringer.
12. People demanding more for an item because it is "vintage".

Oh, and before I forget, The Dead Ringer.

Meh, looking at this list - and the rest of the thread - it's, in some cases, not the game that is flawed, but the people who play it. People who care more about the killing, the trading, the.. more trading instead of focusing on the task in hand - and working as a team.

And don't call me a bitching sod. Complaining helps to let off steam.

EDIT:
13: Server mods and plugins:
13.1. Instant respawn.
13.2. Player advantage (those with less points spawn with crits/uber for 8 seconds).
13.3. M-M-M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL-KILL-KILL-KILL
13.4. Low gravity (particularly on Orange maps).
13.4.1. Orange maps.
13.5. HLstats (LOL CHECK IT OUT WE HAVE X NUMBER OF PLAYERS U SHUD TOTALLY JOIN)
13.6. Stupid messages stating the obvious (You killed a Scout! supah1337wanker killed you!)
13.7. Extra points system - as if one wasn't enough.

anti-spy weapons that make every spy use the dead ringer.
heavy picking up his own sandvich (his own dead ringer yay)
GRU
FoS
Natascha, Sandman
the above leading to every pub (especially payload) of 6 heavy medic combos

The Dead Ringer used to annoy me. Now most spies use it, so when I kill a spy I take special attention to make sure he is dead. The spy is just an aggravating class because whenever you get killed by him it feels cheap. It's fun to play, and it's fun for other players when you fail. At least you get killed by another class most of the time you feel they earnt it.

People complaining about classes being unbalanced after I play them in a pub. Seriously just let me have one >8 kdr without guys blaming the class.

Playing soldier? Fuck you soldier is so easy.
Playing demo? Oh look you're using a class that is overpowered.
Playing scout? Wow you can jump around and kill people in 2 shots holy shit.
Playing pyro? Let's whine constantly about pyro being annoying.

Complaining about heavy is justified, but I never play him. In fact, nobody complains about the pocket heavy topping the scoreboards with no effort at all.

So this leaves me with engineer, medic, sniper, and spy. Engineer is generally a boring class unless you play like an underpowered scout, which sometimes works, but it's pretty retarded. I can't play medic all that well, and I don't feel like getting yelled at for not healing somebody. Can't aim well enough as sniper, although people would just complain if I could headshot.

So to play well without people bitching about the class being easy, I play spy. Of course, since backstabbing is annoying and not skillful, I just run around using the ambassador all the time.

Playing against you when you're sniper is a challenge, but I understand the risks involved. If it were any other way, I would be pissed off constantly.

dunno how to fix first without removing/nerfing bleed.

simply make him throw his sandvich farther (might have implications such as sniping sandviches on teammates D:) or just make him not be able to pick his up/wait 5 seconds or so until he can

GRU needs a more balanced downside. i remember reading a really good idea somewhere else....haven't thought of good fixes yet. a half-assed one would be losing ammo while in use, maybe a passive -minigun ammo downside. in fact i think giving heavy a nice ammo conservation-type thing (maybe 100 boolets) so he cant just w+m1 the whole time killing the entire team he has to go back for ammo. hell, maybe give dalokahs an +ammo attribute on throw so it is somewhat balanced.

FoS, tone down the numbers. 60% is way too much. 30% is good. maybe only +50% damage from melee....

natascha got nerfed so idk why i put it there. sandman needs less slowdown when you get hit - taking away your guns is enough. to balance that they can shorten its cooldown.

Generally it's up to players to find the problems, developers to fix them. Same idea with mapping, testing and feedback reveal issues, and it's up to you to fix them.
