You'll never believe what I just spotted on the internet.

That's right. Nintendo has authorized a rerelease of The Faces of Evil, one of the three CD-I games for The Legend of Zelda. As far as I know The Faces of Evil is the only game of the trilogy slated for rerelease, but why? Why in god's name would Nintendo allow, or possibly port this themselves? Because apparently Nintendo thinks it sure is boring around here.

tl;dr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNpLXo55yfw is coming to the Wii.

Maybe they believe that there's no such thing as bad publicity? (Wouldn't surprise me at this point.) After all, the CD-i titles are technically some of the most popular titles to ever come out of the franchises they massacred were based on massacred, seeing how much "attention" they get on YouTube ... :p

Honestly, I don't think it's above them by this point, or has been for a while, to sell pretty much absolutely anything with their face characters on it, regardless of whether it's a worthwhile product or not. They're like a less extreme Krusty the Clown (at least they still adhere to safety standards ... mostly ... there was that whole "easily-airborne Wii remotes injuring people and destroying $9001 TVs" thing - that was more of a hole in the design rather than outright hazardous product though, and it got sort-of fixed with the straps).

If it has Mario or Zelda characters on it, chances are that a good number of people will go "OMG [franchise]!!1!" and buy a bajillion units of whatever it is, regardless of the product's quality.

Then again ... everyone knows the CD-i titles, and even the fanbois are known to decry them ...

This should be interesting. :p

I'll buy this. No question.

This game is what all true Zelda fans strive for.

But if they publish it, people will buy it just to brag to their friends about how they bought something so amusingly bad.

How else do you think that Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing sold more than 5 copies?

That said, I might buy a copy, But only if I have enough rupees Rubies

You have a point. After all, the game as it is now can sell for over $100.

Nerdboy, I just realized.

This is illegal you know.

Or did Nintendo buy out Phillips? Wouldn't surprise me.

Nerd, where did you see this?

Penguin: They still own the rights to Zelda. They technically own the rights to those games as well. I'm also pretty sure they could just ask Phillips permission if they didn't.

That's annoyingly unspecific. Where on there?

Edit: I guess the better question is - Is this real or not?

Completely real. I wouldn't joke about this. Unless it was April 1. In which case I would. But it isn't, so it's not fake.

Mah boy, this game is what I strive for

No, really, I'm going to get this

This example (if it was serious) is why I believe in public education.

Also, the main reason I'm, assuming it's not serious is because if he was, I don't think he'd be smart enough to understand the concept of registering on a forum.
