very tiny update, i added:
  • the planet of all time, blaturn
  • a couple more health packs and ammo packs here and there
  • i think thats it
i think this map is mostly finished right now, i might come back to work on it a little bit later BUT im making a new map, and it's going to be a genuine attempt to make a good 2cp map in the tf2 art style! i just started it last night and i've got lots of ideas in my head for how i want it to look, and im excited to work on it more!

yo! i'm gonna start mainly focusing on visuals now, but im gonna take everything one step at a time because i'm still learning this program lmfao
changlist:
  • grid snapped as much of the map as i could, i realized that i was messing with geometry off grid and that it was probably causing problems
  • visually improved some things, added a couple new textures and overall made it more UT99-like
  • made the walk from spawn shorter (and also not a glass tube)
  • added two side hallways on the towers to help with getting around
  • made the paths to the side towers harder to see through by making it dark on the inside
  • added some small ammo packs around the point

now it looks like unreal tournament even more than it did before!
i actually used textures from this map: https://gamebanana.com/mods/70411
and i even ripped the torch fire from straight from the map (if you're the guy who made that map and dont like that i nabbed your assets, pls tell me and i'll remove it)
here's a tiny list of things i changed:
  • unreal tournament makeover
  • added small health packs on the little islands
  • raised the brim on the small towers so you can't get on top of them (unless you're a explosive class)
  • changed the spawn to have 2 layers connected by a teleporter to prevent spawn camping, there's also a small window that opens on the top floor that you can shoot out of
  • fixed that thing where you could see into a wall on the blue small tower
  • there are STILL a lot of very tiny visible seams around the map (especially the spawn room) that don't show up in the editor and i can't figure out how to fix, i'll try to fix them in the next update

i changed a ton of crap in this update, mostly trying to make any class but sniper viable
here's a probably accurate list of things i changed/added:
  • added lots more cover around the islands
  • added GLASS
  • changed spawn to be more closed in with a bigass wall to prevent spawncamping
  • changed spawn from 2 spawn rooms to 1
  • added a glass tunnel that leads out of spawn to prevent spawncamping
  • added more cover on the top of the towers
  • changed the windows in the towers to make it easier to shoot into
  • added glass around the towers' islands to reduce sightline issues
  • raised the point to reduce sightline issues
  • made the point island bigger
  • put glass on the paths to the side islands
  • added little bunkers on the paths to the side islands
  • added tiny islands that make it possible to jump from the side islands to the point
  • made the skybox thinner to reduce performance issues (its still really tall)
  • fixed that STUPID far z plane issue
  • made the whole map brighter so you can see what you're shooting at
and i think thats it
some of the geometry might be janky but thats okay i'll fix it later lol
once i get all the gameplay stuff down (grrr i hate you sightlines) i plan to make the skybox much prettier, i want to add a big saturn in the distance that would be so awesome
