I played 2 hours of it and I love snowycoast. it has a feel of a Artic - Base camp rather than a industrial factory, for example, which hasn't been explored before. I also liked Vanguard and LandFall, because they both utilize multiple passageways and depth to create a idealistic sense of non - linear gameplay. They even added a few new taunts, balances (Sentry sap delay tsk tsk), and other cool shit.

What did you guys like about the update?

Why can't you use paint on weapons anyways? They already have skins, why not paint?

Possibly because of clarity: you want to be able to easily see the weapon outlines/shapes of other players. Valve is probably careful about how they go about re-skinning weapons, because they're treading a fine line between benefit and disaster.

The maps have good aesthetic, but a constant theme I noticed seemed to be maps that felt like they had major chokepoints, but had alternate routes that felt unused for the most part. I only noticed a good place to kill someone on Snowycoast because someone killed me from up there when I was on RED. The taunts are awesome, the skins are awesome, and the maps are decent. The worst part was breaking pyro and making him one of the most annoying classes right now, with his invulnerability on taunting with full MMMPH and removing the reduced damage.

Overall, a good update once they change the stupid balancing.

Of course this is going to happen. The maps are new.

Speaking of the maps, they're good. I'm surprised they picked up Vanguard considering it's still mostly in active development.
Snowycoast is great, but I've seen teams have a lot of trouble pushing and defending, both because it's new and it's pub payload.
Landfall is fantastic as ever. Definitely plays better than a lot of the other official ctf maps. People don't seem to fully utilize their options for attacking the intel so far, though.
Highpass is pretty good. It plays like your typical koth map, but the distances you have to run to get health can be frustrating, and it's difficult to attack the point sometimes.

+1

I've really had a lot of fun with Snowycoast and Highpass, and I'm excited to hop into rounds of Vanguard and Landfall. I haven't been playing too much TF2 lately, but these should pull me back into the game. Sniper/Demo/Medic on Snowycoast and Spy/Pyro on Highpass have been a blast. The fast cap on Highpass especially has me strategizing.

So the map about construction is still under construction?

I got white paint. The only things worth painting white are beards, so now I have a self-crafted white-painted Lone Star. (Kinda wish I didn't sell my genuine Awesomenauts items.)
The most noticeable thing about the update are phlog pyros everywhere. The second most noticeable thing is people complaining about phlog pyros. And the least noticeable thing are people saying that pyro barely changed.

Regarding maps, i was surprised that the snowycoast wasn't already in the invasion update. It's a decent map and apparently framerate has been improved with this official release. It was quite bad at some point in the earlier versions. I also like highpass, it's also a decent map that actually is different from other koths by it's design. Landfall is ok, i never liked ctf but the sentries on top of the map kind of kill it now. Vanguard i haven't played much, so i cannot say much about it either.

Otherwise the update is kind of bland, lasts 3,5 months because there's so many crates and so many items in them. But i also see why. Gives Valve time to work on other things while players can play these.

I'm really not a fan of SnowyCoast. I've played it a couple of times and Red always Spawn Camps Blu in the starting area until time runs out. The other maps seem fine though. Good to see the Construction pack get some attention and the same with CTF. Even though Highpass may be a formulaic KOTH map, I've always found it fun.
