Sony Vagas is really a good tool for video editing, but a bit expensive.
I am using AppGeeker AVI MOV Converter, it come with basic video editing function like trim, crop, merge/split, add effect, etc.
Plus, it can convert videos to other file format.
There might be some applications out there that does the job, but as of now, this is the one I find very flexible and easy.

I'm wondering at this point if importing the demo into Source Filmmaker would be a more workable solution. It's probably what they used for the official videos.

I would be a pain in the ass to put together a video that way. Easier to get a mate and just film it without a HUD/veiwmodel and edit later.

Sure, anything that involves actual effort can't be good for quality. I mean, you'd actually have to cover up all your screwups then.
