If you are looking to just create an all out assault type of map just go with arena since most people try to kill to the last man and usually don't cap. Check out the map yyler suggests and just play around with the VALVe stock maps as a good baseline to gage good gameplay mechanics. Arena is also a good place to start for a first map.
