Rotate lightmaps independently of textures

Whenever I rotate a texture on a brush, the lightmap seems to get rotated as well. The result is very ugly looking, incorrect shadows in places where the texture was rotated. Is there a way to edit lightmap alignment / rotation without affecting the texture's alignment and rotation?

well, you can rotate the texture from the vmt with $basetexturetransform.
that would rotate the texture and preserve the lightmap orientation
I suppose . . . but it seems a little inconvenient to create a new VTF / VMT every time I need to rotate a certain texture within a map . . . perhaps I am asking for too much.
