    Here is yet another map I began working on. It is called Pondo. Right now I am not sure whether to make this an arena map or a ctf map, both work for me really. This is also my stab at the alpine theme so I can get some practice in. Anyway, enough chit chat, time for screenshots!

    Here are some concept sketches of what I want pondo to look like. The things sticking out of the walls are hills that block visibility to the other side. Inside these hills I want to put some mining tunnels. Underneath the ground I would like to place some sewer type tunnel system. Also, I decided to make it an arena map.

    this probably wouldnt work as a arena map as pyros would be severly decimated because of all the water but then again i havnt played it. its looks really good. maybe make the blue spawn a actual building? build it up instead of a flat roof? just a suggestion.

    Seems like snipers will love this. I'd suggest many more trees along the river or additional buildings and rocks to limit their effectiveness. Also, nossie is right... pyros wouldn't do well with this map. I'd suggest making the river harder to get out of. That way people have to weigh the risk of going in the water vs burning. Then again, as long as there's no health packs on the map I'm not sure it's that big of a deal (pyro hurts people, their health goes down until they find a medic... therefore pyro isn't completely useless).

    Thanks for the feedback, I did some thinking today and decided I wanted to re-do pondo. I am still going with the alpine theme, just making some terrain changes. I posted some concept sketches (really quickly made) to give you an idea until I make something worth showing.

    (Also, I'm not sure if I can end the poll, so just don't vote ok? :p)

    The problem with the pine trees (Damn you Valve) is that they have no collision models.

    So you can clip them but you have to make sure it's for players AND bullets AND no build. Other-wise a god sniper could get you as you ran behind them. Or demos can hide stickies inside them, sentrys can be built inside them.

    Looks too chokey for arena, I'd say CTF if you expand the base away from the center point a bit. (more inside rather than outside)

    Yea, I know what you are saying. The trees will be up and above the playing area so I won't have to worry too much about clipping them (if at all). See, I may not have made it clear enough in the pictures that this map is inside a kind of, hilly-canyon type thing.

    @Youme: Not so sure about making this CTF or Arena, its kind of a tough choice because the two game modes can have similar map designs. I might just finish the map with no game mode, then make two different versions and see what people like more.
