Yay for capitalism, it's more important that McDonald's can tap the market of a nation with billions of people than the fact the China has concentration camps, is funding Sudanese genocidal groups, and there's a slew of other human rights issues that no one is willing to recognise in the name of profits.

Having said that the opening ceremony was pretty good the people running around the globe was impresive. I was kinda supprised when I heard a scottish bagpipe band playing when the athletes started walking in...
It was odd how much of a show the opening was. I hadn't intended to watch any of it, except for for lighting of the torch. As far as the games themselves, I'll keep track of how many medals the US wins, but thats pretty much it. Oh, and maybe the "Redeem Team" can actually do something this year.
