From what I can tell, a LOT of tf2 mappers like to listen to propane nightmares. Personally I don't have music, as I don't have a strong collection of lyric-less music.

I listen to hip - hop , heavy metal, punk rock or funk when mapping, funk mainly for its bass and lack of words for the most part ^^

But only while I map, not while studying or anything. I prefer silence for tasks that actually require constant thinking (in mapping you usually know what you have to do days before you do it, so that's not as much of an issue)

EDIT: And Radaka, nice choice. Though its OST has some tracks I could never listen to while mapping, like White Jungle or the boss themes. They're not bad at all, usually my favourites even, but they're just too loud for mapping imo.

Well just rememeber when listening to themes eg the great escape theme don't try and make a map like that if your not aiming for it.

I listen to anything really but music only works well when I have a clear idea of what I want to do. For example, I can't listen to music when I'm struggling to create a part of a layout. It's too off-putting.

I prefer to listen to instrumental music while mapping. Basically ANYTHING aslong as there's no vocals.

If I already know what to build beforehand, I can just kick back and half-focus on hammer, those times I listen to podcasts or audiobooks.

It depends on what I'm doing. Making layouts I usually listen to soft, classical music. While detailing, I'll listen to theme appropriate music.
