Hey mappers! I’m RedRum from the UGC League, posting this on behalf of highlander players everywhere. We’re looking for a payload mapper who is very open to suggestions and is willing to put a lot of effort into their map. This needs to be a map in development or already made that someone is willing to change. Our end goal is to incorporate your project as a standard map into our league of over 10,000 TF2 players worldwide.
Highlander creates an incredible environment to play test maps. Although they are limited to nine players on each team, the coordinated competitive environment is a great way to stress test the map for balance in regards to stalemates, sightlines, spam and chokes. Preceding every play test we also discuss among each other and map makers in mumble.
UGC has worked with a few map makers already on payload maps. Schwa on pl_swiftwater_ugc with the old testing team and yyler/Fubar on pl_barnblitz_pro versions. The latest has been working with Sean and vhalin on pl_borneo_rc3 which is coming out soon.
We strive to create the best play testing scenario as possible, as long as you provide updates, we will play test it. We play tested about 30 versions of pl_borneo around 100 times in the last 9 months or so. This didn’t include the 500 or so matches that were played on it during the preseason.
We’ve also played many others and in the process of working with some map makers for future seasons that aren’t payload maps. This is different from the UGC testing team we had in the past. We have experienced teams in the higher divisions that are willing to play test, which is better than before where it was random players. This gives the map maker better feedback and easier to make changes when needed. The ones who’ve been working with us lately have been very pleased by the results so far.
If anyone is interested about their payload map you can send me an email at redrum@ugcleague.com or add me on steam http://steamcommunity.com/id/redrumugc/
