As long as I can tell what it does just by looking at it and recognising it, i'm happy.

So far I only like bill's hat.
It's simple, properly textured and has a appropriate design and is somewhat relevant to the time (has been used since 1960 ish). And I don't like it enough to unhide that, which should say something about the rest of the items.

They may have. I'm speaking of personal preference though, not general consensus.

Haven't we bitched enough already? I think it's pretty much a given that most people hate promotional items by now, for one reason or another.

I've got to say one thing, though. I think I read an interview with someone (the MNC guys, I think) and they were surprised at how easy it was to get their items into TF2. All it took was a handshake, they said, because Valve thought it sounded like a cool thing. It's seriously disappointing how they put pretty much zero thought into this.

IIRC you can't blacklist TF2 content.

You can whitelist as well as blacklist but in TF2 it makes no sense to have a blacklist since you'll ban far more than half the items

I've wondered for a long time whether I'm the only person in the world who doesn't currently play TF2 solely to whine about content. If what content gets added is truly all you care about (complaints about new items are quickly becoming the bulk of TF2 discussion that goes on here. Seriously.), I suggest asking yourself why you're continuing to waste your time with something you don't enjoy, and go find something you do, so you can stop making yourself unnecessarily angry.
