This is an arena map I originally planned to make privately with a few personal friends of mine that LAN every once in a while. I've been wanting to release something for a long time but couldn't quite figure anything out; so I've been at it since November of last year working to get the basics down in mapping: displacements, lighting, scaling, fixing sightlines -- whatever, all of this I slowly learned with a few friends who helped out.

So, hopefully this can be something to get my foot in the door a bit on mapping, and hopefully people'll like it. Unfortunately, I realize some may not like the idea that it's being released as b1, but I'm willing to fix any problems that arise. I just want to get something out there. :/

Lookin very neat plip plop, definitely a lot better than a good portion of the first maps you see from a lot of people.

Best map of gameday award, goes to....

Plip plop, and hydrothunder, congrats.

The giant flat building on the lower side of the middle (the one with the ramp I think) could use a little bit of spicing up, as it stands now, it's just a flat boring wall. Aside from that, great fun, size and scale are perfect.

Oh and the physics tires could stand to be changed to prop statics.

Looks very similar to a map I played in a Prophunt server.

I did enjoy this map even if I'm not a big fan of Arena, and that really says something.

Yeah, I definitely hate arena as well, but I knew either arena or KotH would've been a great way to start. The gameplay is usually centralized, you know where you want players to go, and you add other areas around for variety, flanking and such. Plus, it doesn't take as much time to put together.

Dropping this one in for a test run today. We usually play internal 4v4 or 3v3 arena matches here in my office and are always looking for new/unique maps to play.

Very nice map! I enjoy arena, and this definitely felt like a proper arena map. The only thing I disliked was how a Demoman could just sit up on the top of the tower and spam, with next to no angles to attack him.

Yeah, I agree there, though, I just wanted one more test to see how it played out again. I'll clip it. I just assumed that many soldiers or demos were more at a vulnerability rather an advantage, as snipers could easily pick 'em off, plus they couldn't necessarily dominate the map from there either. However, a lot of players assumed that roof was clipped anyway, and haven't really heard anything positive about that spot.

In short, I'll be clipping it. :/

As for you Selentic, I could easily put it on the rocket building's roof to help spice it up. :p

I love how well you used the Gorge theme. There are some iconic locations that I remember from Gorge in this map, but they still feel unique. Good job!

I appreciate that. One of the many things I wanted to learn before putting a map out was following the TF2 theme, so I had a quite a bit of time to study it all.

Sadly i haven't been able to play it in gameday, but your map, specially for 1st map looks great, maybe it reminds a bit gorge, but still it has something special.
Atleast it isn't another idle or orange map that most new mappers consider to make.

OH I remember one thing, some of the stairs in the map were really steep. Please try as best as possible to stretch them out a bit in one way or another so it's more of a gradual clip incline than what felt like -> /
