Outside of ctrl-clicking on brushes in the 3D view, is it possible to select multiple brushers in hammer by just dragging a selection box around them in one of the 2D views?

    Thanks!

Yes, if you hold ctrl and drag boxes you can select multiple boxes/areas

the box selection will select all brushes crossing the selection frame, making it only useful in very early alpha when you dont have that much geometry. otherwise you will spend more time deselecting then you would have spend ctrl-clicking what you need.
but a man´s gotta do what a man´s gotta do. don´t plan the plan if you can´t follow through. all that matters taking matters into your own hands...

You can drag a box around them with the selection tool then hit enter. it will select everything in that box infinitely on the one axis you havn't set, so be careful.

EDIT: Whoa. I got ninjaed by 2 posts! D:

Much appreciated folks. The map *is* in the early alpha. :)

I'm also figuring that's probably the best way to mirror a map for ctf etc.

When mirroring your map, you'll save yourself a ton of time and pain later if you separate your map into visgroups now. I'm working on a CTF map and I keep separate visgroups for each major structure on each side. That way if I make a major structural change to one side, I can select only that side/section (without getting its mirror as well) for copying.

If you want to mirror than select all or go to map>map properties and it will select all for you, then just move the map over and hit ctrl+L to horizontally flip it and voilà.

With the selection box, if you hit shift+enter it will only select what is completely inside of the box. You can also stretch the box in the other 2D view so that you can make a 3D selection. This should help if the box is selecting too much stuff.
