I had an Idea to make a map with the ability to stand/run/shoot/ on all six planes (think of being inside a cube).

    Example would be..

1: Spawn on floor of cube, fight, die.

2: (Random) Respawn on the ceiling looking up (down) at the floor and everyone below you. Shoot/run/fight/die

3: (Random) Respawn on one of the sides of the cube standing 90 degrees from the floor shoot/run/fight/die

    4: (Random) Respawn...

well you get the idea. Is it possible to do something like this?

    And the second question...

Is there an easier way to copy a whole room with all the stuff in it other then using "CTRL + Left Mouse" and clicking on each and every individual item plus floors and walls?
I made a nice room and want to make a mirror of it for the other side.

The source engine does not have dynamic gravity controls, so that wouldn't be possible.

For selecting stuff... just drag a box in the 2D view to select them. Same way you can drag a selection box in Windows. There is a setting about "infinite selection" in the 2D views tab of the options menu that changes whether it auto-selects after dragging the box, or waits for you to hit enter to select (if the latter way, you can then size the box in another 2D view to select a specific area).

You can't create a map like this, walking on walls is impossible. But, you could create 6 differents rooms (cubes) sealed so they don't "connect" each other, like 6 mini maps in one. For your second question, hold the shift key down and drag the blocs you want to duplicate. You can learn all the hotkeys on this page (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Hammer_Hotkey_Reference), it's good to know them to improve your workflow! ;) Happy Mapping!

Unfortunately, such dynamic control of gravity isn't available. What you can do however, is create the illusion. Simple example; have all of your props glued to the ceiling, and reverse all the textures in a room. That way players will believe they are in fact, upside down.

Ya while it might look kool I thought it would be cool to be standing on the wall or ceiling and shooting or killing someone on the floor or opposite wall

But thanks for the answers guys it has helped.

A map based off MC Escher might be cool, you'd need to completely overhaul the source engine to make it work properly.

It can (most likely) be done, but would require lots and lots of reprogramming.

You'd be better off attempting to port the Mario Galaxy engine over to the PC :p

Ok that answers the first question now for the second,

I have made one side of a map hoping that there was a way to copy and past it to the other side. I have over 200 objects ( walls objects and other things) so control click on every single one would take a couple of hrs. Is there a way to drag and click on the area and group them all at once so I can copy it all at once?

If you want everything copied, you can also do Edit -> Select All.

Actually Ctrl+A is auto-size viewports in hammer. I'm guessing they figured you'll rarely want to select all so it doesn't need a hotkey. :D
