Good normal servers?

Anyone know of any? It's becoming really frustrating for me to find servers that are for the most part normal.
I hate 32 person servers, reduced spawn times are unbalancing, 24/7 servers are amazingly boring, obnoxious mods/sounds/music are... obnoxious, not to mention it seems like 20% of the servers are running an achieve/fun/surf/whateverothercrappeoplehavemadeup map. Custom maps are fine but I still like playing valve's.

In the end, it'd save me enormous amounts of time and bother if valve made a more thorough and flexible filter system, but at the same time I'm almost scared to see how small the list would shrink to when excluding all that. :unsure:

So... anything out there that you know of/play at?

If you get some people wanting to play whatever, let us know, we can setup a map cycle.

edit: duh!!!!!

and all the servers over at our Colts playground friends =) all UK servers but as far as player base and no silly game modifiers its all there!

Yeah, actually having people play regularly is the other thing. Having a good server I can go to once a week is no better than having to find a new one every day (or hour, sometimes). I have looked through the threads here already, colt was the only one it seemed, but connecting across the pond usually doesn't end up that well.

the ville servers don't have any odd mods as far as i can see, and are populated most of the time

Look for the tactical gamer server. They aren't always populated, but they are one of the finest bunch of players you will find.

Depends on how far you're going to connect. I use the following two servers. They are both 24 mans and allow all-talk. Only one or two mods, such as health siphon and HLStatsX. Good community (it strechs both servers, one was made later to allow for clan matchs from a spin off group).

I like 24/7 servers. They allow me to play the map I want to play without the horror of 2fort suddenly being the next map.

Well I got my favorites populated a bit now, I'll have to check them out and see how it goes.

I play on the Couch Athletics servers almost exclusively. They've got a good admin mod, otherwise vanilla, great admins and a friendly community. There's almost always someone playing. Server IPs:

All our servers at the ville are basically 100% vanilla, well 99%.

The only thing modified is respawn time.

Sourceop's servers are 32 man, but they are quality servers. I've been playing on the Valve maps server since November 07.
