Some of that sounds quite nice, DBP! I happen to have a copy of GPO 4 (which I use as a composition tool), so if you ever need some decent samples of orchestral strings or winds I could sequence something for you. I actually have a recording of actual musicians playing that quartet but I'll have to dig it up from a CD I have at home.
I'm another music person. I've been working with MIDI for ~6 years now, and started "getting serious" about it a couple years ago when I started towards an Associate of Arts in the subject (will be finished in June ). I tend to use samples a lot more than synths (I use the Garritan libraries primarily - currently using GPO, Jazz & Big Band, and the new World Instruments). Here's a sample...
Yeah, it's meant to be pretty video game-y. I got started learning MIDI by re-creating game music by ear (VGMusic.com is the site that made me want to try it all those years ago, after hearing what so many others had done), and it's heavily impacted my style when I moved on to original stuff.
I kinda doodle a bit in Photoshop sometimes. I try work on my skills with human anatomy, but environments are probably more fun. Time to draw something less boring then! EDIT: I just noticed the lighting is kinda completely shit. Those bright, bright trees... Oh well.
Some animations I did months ago, for a short flash movie I probably never finish. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9132584/Ooze Walk.swf http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9132584/Ooze Run.swf http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9132584/Ooze Run 2.swf http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9132584/Ooze Anim_1.swf But I might surprise myself!
I draw sometimes! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1937558/art/matt/Christmas_Thor_small.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1937558/art/matt/Lola.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1937558/art/matt/Pansy-small.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1937558/art/matt/Space Marine3.png and there's some concept stuff for mapping that i haven't scanned
Ew ew ew! Smudge always ends up looking wrong unless you use it for very small adjustments, or you want your entire picture to have such a distinct style. Use the pressure sensitivy to control transparency instead. Or don't. I like the clearly "layered" tones, Gerbil.
