Gaming Night: Part VII - March 16th

Gaming Night VI Recap:
We have an entire thread dedicated to this subject, so I think it got covered / is being covered pretty well there.

Gaming Night VII
When:
  • March 16th
    • Ok, well, the main event starts at the below time and the above date, but I am passing the map list off to those with the happy "Add" power now, and we shall see what happens. If the rotation is up and running tommorow I say go for it.
  • 1:00 PM PST, 4:00 PM EST, 9:00 PM GMT
Where:
  • TF2Maps.net partner server: 84.45.84.166:27015
    • Link should connect you straight to the server
Maps:
  1. If you are submitting a map, please do one of the following:
    1. Include a link to a publicly released version
    2. If there is no publicly released version send either me or DrPepper a forum PM (or contact me on steam) containing a link to a version that we can post onto the server.
  2. *note* we will most likely NOT have a password on the server so any maps submitted can still be download by the general public and there is a chance they might like it enough to try and post it to the internet without first asking permission. Keep this in mind.
  3. Sorry for the super short notice on this one, and due to the fact we did not play last weeks list at all, and we have such short notice on this one, I am going to start with the same list as Part VI
If you want to change a map submission, go for it, I just grabbed the list from last week since we did not get to play it.

Additional Info:
  • We will probably do a few rounds of TF2Maps.net people vs. Colts Playground people. I asked Immortal-D to see about setting that up.
  • Map Rotation changes / updates / additions should be in by Friday 9:00 pm EST, or Saturday 9:00 pm EST depending on which day we pick to have the game day.

I'll see if I can join. Saturday is impossible for me, but sunday can be done. I'll try to make it :). And then you can all laugh at my funny English accent because it's not my native language ;)

Sounds great :cool:

Any overspill can be taken up by the Playground Teamplay server, which i will duplicate the rotation on for the night if needed :)

Oh geez...I got things to do on both days but I'll see if I can make it in the around the evening EST.

I'll send a beta of my map, "cp_heavy" to DrPepper to see if he'll put it in rotation. I would definitely love to hear feedback about it. :)

Just FYI peeps : I do visit tf2maps.net daily - but it's much easier if you post a link to the map on my forum in the map lab - i check it hourly, and will see your message quicker and have less chance of missing it ;)

There are two stickies - one for maps to go on the closed test server. One for maps to go on the Custom Map Lab server.

Maps for the Custom Map Lab can be uploaded by Youme, or me - or any of the red admins on the forum.

I am sorting out full ftp access to the Closed Test Map server, for Drpepper but there's a few hitches so for now Youme or I are your best bet for getting the map on there. Anyway - to be honest, i'm always happy to get maps up and think you all should be free from that admin burden and able to get on with enjoying mapping and playing your maps :cool: I promise to be prompt with my uploads :p

Sounds good colt.

But another thing, for those of us who end up not being able to do the game night,whenever its decided, maybe there can be a scribe or something who can take down commentary on each map for its author if they're absent? I'd be happy to do it for anyone if it ends up being Sunday, but otherwise I'd need someone to do it for me... Anyone willing to take the Saturday shift?

Might be better to post feedback on the WIP-thread of the map.
Not all have mics and you can't write down everything if loads of people type simultaneously.
Might be better to add some note(s) on preferred way to provide feedback??

Both days are fine to me, but I'll probably be there both days anyway :p

PS: I like the big list of custom maps in the first post.

I previously stated a turn in deadline of 9:00 pm the day before we have the gaming day, however, I think to really allow for time to upload everything I am going to need to move it up to 5:00 pm. Any changes after that you are going to need to PM to me so I can get in contact with the people who will be uploading the maps. (they are after all 5 hours ahead of us, so 5:00 pm for us is 10:00 pm GMT for them)

Poll closed and by 2 votes we are looking at Sunday as the official game day, However, I am going to submit the maps tonight and maybe we can get the rotation going for the entire weekend and people can just hop on anytime with the real deal starting on Sunday at the appointed time.

All the maps curently requested are up and running in the rotation. Chuffed it's on Sunday as we have a members match night on Saturday.

TF2 has a built in demo recorder that lets a player capture gameplay, chat messages, and voice messages in a file that can be played back later. On previous gamedays, several people created demos and then shared them in the forums.

btw guys - you are welcome to have the server passworded for the night - all our members know the password - which is always pl4ygr0und for all our members servers, and it would ensure you all got on quickly and only played with known peeps - the downside is that unpassworded you could have a nice full server for hours and hours, passworded will in my experience mean far fewer people.

If you like, if it's getting really busy and you want to make sure everyone gets on, steam friends message me : coltseavers77 and i'll password it for you.
