Hello gamers.
I will be too busy to work on this map anymore. I've been mapping around a decade, on and off, spending a lot of time on these forums. I have always wanted to orphan something and see where it ends up. Do whatever you want with this. Turn it into another gamemode... extract a single point from it... I don't mind, have fun!
This layout is not garbo. I think it's now really good. I think what changes remain are fine tuning spawn and capture times. People tend to have a very negative reaction to the gamemode at first, but as time goes on warm up to it. I think it can be detail passed at this point, if that's something you are interested in. There is intentionally nothing distinct in theming about the geometry, (tried to do what valve did for that mountainlab / mann manor competition back in the day). It's a blank slate. The map went through major changes. It was unplayable for a time. But, I really think that it's in a good state now.
The gamemode is much like the domination in cp_standin, but you can only capture counterclockwise. Spawns are determined by point ownership. Sounds complicated in theory, is very complicated for the first 10 minutes... but, it becomes intuitive eventually (at least for most people). The whole goal was to make a map where you can run dedicated offensive or defensive loadouts at any point in time (not that this is the only way this has been achieved).
Here are some already known issues:
-Cap times a little too long
-I accidentally turned a kill trigger into world geometry in the death pit next to B (lol, this is a 30 second fix)
-Too many signs (many people saying this)
-Spawns should probably be connected to eachother
-One of the noentries is inside a door so it looks wrong
In the file attached there is a demo for the most recent version, some vmfs of different versions, and the bsp for the most recent.
I don't check this forum regularly! If you want to reach out to me for any reason concerning this map or permissions or wtvr (not that you need to, but I have experienced people wanting to double check in the past)... my email is qlholmes03@gmail.com
Thanks, and have fun!
