Brief comments:

Icarus' second point was a great concept, and executed with restraint (unlike his first). I don't know why Red and Blu would be fighting over a ruined farmhouse, but presumably the Administrator told them to!

Eerieone's was simple, and well executed. I would've marked it down for the overused waterfall props, but you couldn't really see them from anywhere in the map anyway! :p

Aly's sawmill had really well-balanced detail. No grand ideas, but everything fit. It was elegant.

The top half of grazr's point was a little uninteresting (and there's that waterfall again!), but the area below had great spytech architecture and lighting, very well done.

Spud just sneaked past YM and DaBeatz for the final point. But someone'll have to do something about that ivy, or it'll ruin all the woodwork!

Eerieone: Easily my favorite. A professional entree. Mappers, please learn from this guy!

Icarus2: I felt like I was actually there in the blizzard trying to brush the snow out of my face. The shack was a real location to me.

ScorpioUprising: The base is cool, but what really brought it life was the artistic sky opening.

Deloras: Great use of vertical space. A lot of effort put into all the detail work here. I especially like the underground train stop. The only downside to this map is that it feels very cluttered. Sometimes simple is better.

Icarus1: Great use of spytech theme. I think it's safe to say that you've mastered the spytech theme. It's excellent. The only reason this didn't rank high for me is because it didn't feel fresh, but instead very generic.

I made notes to my self for making it easier to decide, but I figured if I post em' the mappers might appreciate the feedback :3

Acumen: Really nice, underwater theme is really cool, forgot to build cubemaps?

Aly: Well executed Sawmill/Alpine theme, functioning saw important detail.

Beatz: I really like it, great lightning.

Deloras: Elevator, wow... Still, the "CAPAREA" could be more detailed, although the meet the spy board is really cool.

Eerione
: Everything is so pretty, pure eyeorgasm, it all... Fits! Dualwaterfall power, spectatorcam shot is breathtaking.

Grazr
: I think I had like this more if the waterfall were visible when you stood at the CP.

Grazr2: Three waterfalls? Don't know what to say exept that.

Icarus1: Really cool spytec.

Icarus2: Blizzard <3 The wrecked house is really original and fits the theme, other parts could have needed some more attention though.

Jason: Alot of plottered objects that seems out of place, booring displacements, the disco tv was nice though.

Jack: No comment.

Jazz: Looks nice.

Martintje: Underwater stairs are cool.

Menderza: Seems bit empty for props, needs better lightning.

Mick: Way to undetailed.

Obso1337: Objects out of place, underdetailed.

Owlruler: The more subtle areas are nicely done, some major areas (like the cliffs) could have had a bigger role in this.

Owlruler2: With some more alternation on the houses, this would have looked more interesting.

Pitto: Just gotta say that the spawn is >really< nice, caparea is really nice with subtle details, great RED/BLU building clash!

purequaternion1: Cool westerntheme, would not suffer for some more objects around the cap, caparea is open and gaping. Tad underdetailed.

scorpiouprising: Really sweet hole in the roof with snow (i like it alot when weather finds it ways indoors), would be cool to move the actual caparea to around the rocket.

sg: Looks good.

sg2: Some things seems oversized, I can't put my finger on what went wrong here.

Spud: Wineyardtheme omgwtfbbq! Great objectplacement and I also fancy the "unplayable area that i think a few people have missed out on since there was a no 3dskybox policy, good job!

Stickzero: This one have one of the best weathereffects, fog looks good. When it comes to detailing it lacks some, some interesting lightingplacement could bump this up.

Supertoaster: Way underdetailed, no distingt or interesting features.

Tapp: Needs more planning it seems, office in the (groundtexture) cieling? What?...

TPG: Do over, do right, not much went good with this. Altough it was thrilling running up the stairs to see where they lead, totally worth the run.

VFIG: Wow, really cool theme OMGSPINNINGEARTHOUTSIDEWINDOW (subtle, yet, wow). All corridors and computers sideways makes you feel that you are in a spacestation, once more, the unplayable area with the antennas give alot!

Void: Cool theme (RED spytec with farming fences, priceless), theme is also well executed. Void seems to go on forever (which it doesn't), you don't wanna fall down there.

Wiggles: You don't gain any credit for making 4 levels of useless and underdetailed running misery.

YM: Clean execution, nothing feels too plottered or unplanned.

damn, the choice was harder than I thought. I run through all the maps and had multiple rounds and every round the "worst" maps would drop out. At the beginning this was easy as there were quite some maps that you could instantly tell wheter they were good or badly detailed, but near the end it became really difficult.

general advice
this advice is for some things I saw in some maps, you will know when it aplies to you.
-incorrect pakratting (I did not judge anybody on this one)
-having a detailed area with a control point at a random location
-no marking of the control point
-dev textures
-Huge open (uninteresting) areas
-An area being both dusty and shiny.

Also I noticed some maps contained soundscapes and ammopacks/ medkits. I did not know this was supposed to be part of the entry and kind of ignored it. I did hope that someone actually had the guts to make a payload control point.

winning entries comment
deloras
Congrats, you got on number one. A great map, I really liked how you marked the control point. The only thing I really dislike is that it is not a very original theme. There were quite some spytech maps.

eerieone
I like the idea, I must say this is an impressive looking entry. Now I did find flaws in the map. (I found flaws in almost every map.) First of, the lack of markings of the capture area. some simple hazardstripe overlays would do. Secondly the water at the bottom, increase the texture scale.

icarus2
Generally a great map. I love the blizzard, you really created a good atmosphere. I cant say a lot of bad things about it, I just like those other two maps more.

menderza
Great map, nice detail. I like your flowing water. I cant say a lot a bad about this map either, it is just a great looking map.

spud
Great map aswell. I really like this one, I do feel you actually added too much foliage. Also, you forgot the control point markings

honorable mentions
these are the entries that just didnt make it in the top 5. in no particular order

pitto
Great map, Like how you made the different sides very clear. Conveyer belt seems a bit strange, but hey, tf2 is far from realistic.

accumen
Like it, feels a little underdetailed to me. I like your idea of an underwater map. Like the bubbles floating up outside

scropiouprising
looks nice, but somehow didnt feel that special to me. It missed the "x factor". I dont know, it is hard to explain. One thing unrelated to how I judged your map: It lags. When I tested all these maps I put all my graphics to the max and of course on some maps this caused a bit of lag, but when I played your map It was crazy.

sg2
the least detailed map in this list, but I like this map because it really feels like a control point, you nailed it.

icarus1
it blew my mind when I saw the screenshot in the upload thread, but as I learned you cant judge a map on 1 screenshot. Why did you put that elevator entrance in there?, it feels wrong. Other than that this map is actually overdetailed plus you combined shiny surfaces with smoke, wich feels kinda weird.

I did hope that someone actually had the guts to make a payload control point.

I did, though I wasn't sure how to make it a little more...payloadey...and in the end I didn't have time to change the straight path into an actual twisting windy path to make it more interesting.

EDIT: Infact, it looks like I was the only one that didn't make a control point entry...maybe that's why mine suck xD That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it :p

Eerieone: Really great looking building, and it totally fits the surrounding terrain, while still dominating the landscape. The soft edges really make it quite exceptional. The moutainsides seem a bit forced, but thats probably the size restriction. I also found the electrical short a bit distracting. Other than that, a real atmospheric space with some great visuals.

Pitto: The screenshot had me a bit underwhelmed, but then you get in the map and it really opens up. The combat between the two sides is going to be quite intense, and I can see comp players lusting for this in a 5cp form (as long as you fix the death drop that is).

Icarus2: I chose this one over your other entry because I felt it was much more concise and restrained. While the screenshot blew me away for the first, the amount of reflective textures and visual noise detracted a bit. The second point suffers from no such problems! Things are poised and artfully laid out, and the blizzard makes the player feel the chill.

Spud: The vines really sell the new location. Pretty amazing how a couple of props, tied to existing textures and props, can really bring out new gameplay. The only criticism I can offer is that it feels a bit light on buildings, maybe because of the size limitation. Possibly some more farm equipment scattered about might help cement the idea of the new location.

Grazr: The point itself looks pretty good, minus the overuse of the shiny red floor texture. I find that its best used in moderation, maybe just the lowered floor area, with the actual point being one of the metal floor textures, and the area behind the lowered a tiled or simple concrete texture. That said, the top area of the map seems completely superflous. I think your time would have been better spent getting the point room really keyed in, and then putting something interesting outside of the window (say a waterfall), instead of that rather boring cliffwall.

Acumen: Love the underwater theme, think you did that really well. However, there were some missing textures that ruined the feel, but you probably knew that.

Aly: Best one of the lot. Obviously.

Beatz: The floor and walls of the cave seemed a bit...empty. If you had made them interesting it would have improved the entire map.

Deloras; Beautiful execution of the spytech theme, there was barely any undetailed areas, but in a way it didn't feel cluttered. Well done.

Eerione: Absolutely amazing, loved the feel of it. I just loved the ditch in the middle, though the water texture was a bit low scale. Other than that great job.

Grazr: Really liked yours, however some spots where quite dark and hard to make out.

Grazr2: This one was nice too, but the rock wall was sort of repedative and so were the use of waterfalls! Still, your detailing was nice. Well done.

Icky1: What can I say? You nailed the "control room" feel perfectly.

Icky2: I love this one. Absolutely love it. I love the entire feel of it, there's even some humerous details. However, some places could do with some more attention.

Jack: I love the funny detailing you did, like the stinky shoes. You seem to have thought it out, but some places just feel odd, like the rater cubic cave. However, I disapprove of your killing engies (Joking!)

Jack_One: A lot of the walls were really rather bland. I liked the suiciding pyro and some of the details were fairly clever.

Jazz: There are a lot of big empty areas with no detail, and while your detailing in pockets are really nice, the open areas ruin the general feel.

Marti: You used Half life water! You've done the "autumn farm" feel really well, but your displacements were a bit iffy. I loved the collapsed building though.

Menderza: I really liked yours. You had me as soon as I saw the log-bridge with the flowing water. Your displacement work is really nice too. However, you had some visible dev textures and a missing texture, which kind of took from the mood.

Mick: Your map feels like it was unfinished. I can see potential in it, but I'm not sure what I can say because it feels really incomplete.

Obso1337: Your map is nice, but underdetailed in some areas. I like the rooms, good pipework.

Owl: Your map too suffers from big open areas with little detail. However, I do like the underground areas,

Owl2: The buildings were really nice but the natural areas felt strange without any grass or trees or anything.

Pitto: Your detailing was really nice. I loved the wooden buildings and the industrial is really nice. Awesome idea with the track texture for a conveyer belt.

Purequarernion1: There were lights without light models, as well as no lights at all in some places, it made it really dark!

Scorpiouprising: Loved it. You did a nice job at the spytech/industrial feel and I love the rocket and the snow. Well done.

SG: It was a bit bland in some places but it was still nice to look at. Love the clock!

SG2: This one was really nice. You captured the perfect blend between Alpine and Industrial, however the steps seem to be really large.

Spud1: Displaced rooves. All I can say. Well done, everything has really nice detail, and not so much its overly so.

Stickzero: Interesting effect with the rain, however some of the areas are really empty, even with the pouring rain.

Supertoaster: lol.

Tapp: It looked like it was going to turn out really well, but I can see you didn't finish in time. It's a pity, but I like what you had done so far

TPG: Very, very empty. It looks like it could be great, but its very, very empty.

VFIG: Love it. I think you did the theme really well, love the custom materials and the rotating earth. Great job. However, there were some spaces that felth neglected.

Void: Nice job on the spytech theme. Love all the cuuuurves.

Wiggles: Its just way to empty. You have a nice setting, you could have done heaps with it...

YM: While good looking, I didn't find anything special. Not that thats a bad thing, but it didn't stand out. And you stole Booj's idea with the monitors :)

cPPoint_cassanova: Like a lot of people, yours was just empty. Needs more stuff to make it interesting.

And yeah! Go me.
