So I wanted to see how long it takes for my PC to compile a finished map. Since I have none of my own, I took a .vmf file of cp_badlands, renamed it cp_badlands_test and and started a full compile. Six hours later I find the process at the 'Chop Details...' stage. CPU usage was at 99%, I assume that means it was still compiling and not crashed. An hour later it was still at that stage so I just threw in the towel and forced the program shut. vvis.exe was still stuck in process explorer, hogging all the CPU so had to kill that manually.
My PC is reasonably beefy with a i7-4790k processor, so compiling a map that I can only assume is well optimized (made by Valve) shouldn't take that long. Anybody know what went wrong here? Google doesn't provide any answers...
