    So I'm going to build a computer. Just want to get some feedback to make sure I'm not making some horrible mistake, like buying a motherboard that doesn't work with the cpu (don't worry, I didn't make that mistake).

    Intel Core i7-950

    ASUS Rampage II Extreme Motherboard

    Corsair Dominator 6GB CC3-12800 DDR3 (x2)

    BFG Tech GeForce GTX 295

    Probably a 1000w psu, and maybe a special heatsink + fan for the cpu.

    So, whaddaya think?

    1st find someone you know that works retail, make them sign up for intel retail edge and make them buy the big deal for you:
    Mega Bundle – $289 (USD)

    * Intel® Core™ i7 920 processor
    * Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO
    * Windows Vista Ultimate*
    * Upgrade voucher to receive Windows 7*
    upon its release

    Every item on this list is alone worth the total cost, so its quite impressive

    and your video card link appears to call the card deactivated...

    then I feel that I should point out how pointless it is to buy the top of the line items, primarily referring to the video card, id probably look at the 280 instead...I really don't like to pay more then $300 for a video card, especially when the difference is minimal

    Ah, yes, you should probably upgrade. :p How much do you want to spend on it? The parts you posted before are quite pricey. I take it you don't need any HDD or Sound card?

    I'll be getting two 500 gb hdd, and then run them in some raid configuration. I'm looking at a total cost of around 2.5k atm, with all the parts I've picked out.
