BlitzFall - My first alpha map with a Frontline, City-fall theme.

This is my first map that has made it to alpha1... hopefully nothing breaks... On a not so sad note, this map is a Frontline, City-fall theme, with a lot of ideas in store for late alpha and beta! Now for some (probably bad looking) screenshots! Take a look:

(special thanks to [UEAK]Crash for getting me into TF2 mapping and through the basics of hammer. keep doing what you're doing dude! :D)

I did try repacking, but I think I'm still in the "I Don't Know What I'm Doing" stage, so I may have messed it up somehow... also how do I put it in the impro section

No problem, we all start somewhere. That thread has some instructions you can follow that can help you in repacking your map down.

As for putting it in the impro sessions, you simply join the TF2Maps Steam chat (or Discord), and write !add <map filename> <download link> <notes>, replacing the coloured brackets with the necessary info. An example for your map would be:
!add koth_blitzfall_a1 https://tf2maps.net/downloads/blitzfall.3948/download?version=8416 My first map!

Since it's over 50 MB, you should mention it in the notes when you add it to the list.

I tryed to repack it but I must have done something wrong, I'm going to updated it with a repacked version in a bit.

Looks like a good start! Your download seems a little large for it being an alpha though, likely due to the Frontline assets. Have you tried repacking your map to compress the filesize a little more
I just tried both ways of repacking and all I got was 60 -> 60. I also looked in the VIDE log and it looks like most of the data are coming from the Frontline assets. so poop. :(

Well, the file size would most likely be explained with the over usage of Frontline assets. If you pack with VIDE, it packs the map with all the models skins as well, so it's accumulates a lot with Frontline, since many of the models have like 7 skins. But anyways, since your map is in alpha, you should cut off the custom asset usage, specially when your A1 has the same file size as a finished product without repacking.

You might want to avail yourself of some of these for the time being, at least for props that are used as a significant form of cover and can't be removed entirely.
